What we offer

The Manufacturing Engineer will support the launch of the SAMI factory, including developing manufacturing processes and managing equipment projects. After the launch, this role will focus on driving efficiency and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, technology-focused environment. The ideal candidate is collaborative, data-oriented, detail-oriented, diligent, and skilled in project management.

What you’ll do

  1. Collaborate with sales and design teams to define production quantities based on demand forecasts and capacity, ensuring manufacturable, efficient product designs.
  2. Source and assess manufacturing equipment; manage vendors from design to commissioning.
  3. Develop Standard Operating Procedures, conduct time studies, and determine labor requirements for new processes.
  4. Analyze production data to identify and prioritize improvements in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and sustainability.
  5. Lead root cause analyses and collaborate with safety, quality, production, maintenance, product design, and sustainability teams to implement corrective actions.
  6. Train teams on new equipment and processes.
  7. Perform other duties as required.

What you bring

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  2. Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office, MES, and ERP systems.
  3. Skilled in reading technical drawings (structural, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic).
  4. Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit) and industrial automation (PLC logic, robot programming).
  5. Hands-on experience setting up new manufacturing facilities; entrepreneurial mindset.
  6. Strong project management, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.

Bonus Points

  1. Lean Six Sigma or PMP designations are assets.
  2. Experience in highly automated or roboticized environments preferred.
  3. Background in large-scale wood product manufacturing or residential construction is an asset.
