Job summary

Atlantic Windows and Doors is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive continuous improvement across our Port Elgin, NB and Amherst, NS facilities. You will lead projects that enhance efficiency, quality, and safety while coordinating new equipment initiatives with vendors and internal teams.

You’ll partner with production, maintenance, and quality teams to translate data into practical actions, manage capital projects, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in a related field.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate into action.
  • Experience collaborating across production, maintenance, quality, and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Evaluate equipment and processes; propose upgrades to increase capacity and reliability.
  • Coordinate purchasing, installation, and commissioning of new equipment with vendors and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, standard work, and layouts for scalable production.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and downtime; drive cost reductions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment/process issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Support capital project scoping, budgeting, and timelines.
  • Ensure changes meet health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel between Port Elgin, NB and Amherst, NS facilities as needed.
  • Contribute to cost analysis and ROI evaluation for equipment changes.

Job description

Atlantic Windows and Doors is a leading Atlantic Canadian manufacturer of PVC windows and steel doors, with facilities in Port Elgin, NB and Amherst, NS. As we continue to grow and modernize our operations, we are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to help drive continuous improvement and support exciting equipment and process improvement projects across our facilities in Port Elgin, New Brunswick and Amherst, Nova Scotia.

You'll work closely with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to modernize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and support the future growth of our organization.

What You’ll do
  • Identify, lead, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing process to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Evaluate current equipment and processes and propose upgrades or replacements to support production capacity and reliability.
  • Coordinate the purchase, installation, and commissioning of new equipment, working closely with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, standard work, and layout plans to support scalable production.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, downtime drivers, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Partner with production, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Support capital project planning, including scoping, budgeting, and timelines for equipment initiatives.
  • Ensure all process and equipment changes comply with applicable health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel between the Port Elgin, NB and Amherst, NS facilities as needed to support projects and initiatives at both sites.
  • Support costing and financial analysis of equipment and process changes, including capital expenditure justification and ROI evaluation.

  • Build strong working relationships across operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams.
  • Identify practical solutions that improve production flow and reduce downtime.
  • Contribute directly to the modernization and growth of our manufacturing operations.
What You Bring
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience and/or knowledge in the manufacture of windows and doors or other related building products.
  • Post-secondary education in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) is an asset.
  • Experience evaluating, specifying, and coordinating the installation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into practical action.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Effective communicator, comfortable working with production staff, vendors, and leadership alike.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365; experience with CAD or process simulation tools is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., production modules, inventory, work orders) and aptitude for learning new systems.
  • Familiarity with product/process costing, and the ability to factor cost impacts into equipment and process decisions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel periodically between the Port Elgin, NB and Amherst, NS facilities.
