Job summary

Ford of Canada is expanding its Oakville Assembly Complex and seeking an experienced Manufacturing Delivery Engineer to lead quality systems, tooling and process improvements across multiple subsystems.

You will work with Product Development to optimize facility costs, leverage virtual tools for design feasibility, and supervise launch activities from Pre-Production through Mass Production across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in automotive systems such as Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line.
• 3+ years' experience with automotive assembly tooling, processes and facilities.
• 3+ years demonstrated understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance.
• 3+ years of experience in Controls Engineering, including PLC-based systems.
• Hands-on experience with Vision Systems, error-proofing and IIoT systems in high-volume manufacturing.
• Ability to travel within North America for launches.

• Lead and coordinate assembly builds across Canada, Mexico and the US.
• Identify and resolve launch product/tooling feasibility issues.
• Develop master schedules for tool design, build and implementation.
• Lead tool installation, start-up and commissioning at sites.
• Drive Engineering Change through milestones and capture lessons learned.
• Support initiatives across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation.

As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we’re continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles. APD (Advanced Program & Delivery) is a cross‑functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants.

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for your specific Subsystem, which may include Electrical, Powertrain, Suspension, Exterior, Interior, or Vehicle Engineering.
• Collaborate with the Product Development team to generate facility and tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
• Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high-volume assembly operations.
• Write, modify, and maintain process sheets, deliver updated cycle line layouts, and work with assembly plants to ensure a complete operator and equipment workstation is ready for launch.
• Lead manufacturing assembly builds, including Design Confirmation Vehicle, Tooling Trial, Pre-Production, Mass Production 1, and Mass Production 2, across assembly plants in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
• Lead the identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product, tooling, and Final Assembly Engineering feasibility issues.
• Create and follow a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of tools within your subsystem.
• Lead assembly tooling installation, start‑up, and commissioning at the assembly site, and support tooling buyoffs at vendor facilities.
• Drive Engineering Change implementation throughout key program milestones. Develop Lessons Learned from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
• Support department initiatives across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional activities, including Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning and Logistics, and New Model Programs.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or a related field of study.

Experience

• 5+ years' experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line.
• 3+ years' experience with automotive assembly tooling, processes and facilities.
• 3+ years demonstrated understanding of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and failure mode avoidance principles.
• 3+ years of experience in Controls Engineering, including PLC-based systems
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with Vision Systems, Error‑Proofing techniques, and Factory Information/IIoT systems within an automotive or high-volume manufacturing setting
• Ability to travel within North American countries (including USA and Mexico) as required, which may include supporting launch programs.

• 3+ years demonstrated experience working effectively as part of a cross functional team.
• 3+ years of 3D CAD review experience (Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, CATIA, or equivalent).
• Experience with Automated Vehicle Scheduling (AVS) systems and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) platforms, or comparable digital manufacturing/Factory Information Systems, to support connectivity, data‑driven decision‑making, and automation initiatives
• Expertise in understanding of bill of materials, change control, process allocation and issue management systems.
• Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)
• Proven Project Management skills and result‑oriented mindset.
• Proficiency with computer skills (Excel, Power Point, MS Project etc.)

This posting is for an existing vacancy within our team. The expected annual salary range for this Ford of Canada position is $85,000.00 - $135,000.00 and individuals may be eligible to participate in our Annual Compensation bonus program.
