Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Ontario to support production processes, BOMs, and cost estimates. You will help optimize tooling, routings, and time standards to boost productivity and quality in a global manufacturing environment.

Under supervision, you will coordinate with CAM and other departments, develop process documentation, and implement continuous improvements to sustain efficient operations and safe practices.

Qualifications

  • BS in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with computer-assisted equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct studies to investigate new tooling and prototype parts, equipment and tooling performance, cost input of change notices and current manufacturing methods to improve productivity.
  • Generate and maintain manufacturing process routings and determine the raw material requirements.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance and changes of all records of BOO and BOM
  • Investigate problems arising in manufacturing areas and recommend corrective action.
  • Initiate process and routing sheets by establishing the sequence of operations, assigning work centers and providing production rates and initiate time studies to establish time standards.
  • Audit BOO time standards and implement regular maintenance and continuous improvement on existing standards.
  • Perform engineering functions at the back end of the work order lifecycle and adhere to the companies targets as related to cycle time and quality of work.
  • Notify all affected departments of any work order delays by manufacturing engineering.
  • Maintain and improve computer programs as deemed necessary.
  • Work closely with other departments whose services are necessary to conclude assignments.
  • Assist CAM group with improvements to programming, tooling, and manufacturing process.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Description

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under indirect supervision and direct supervision on new aspects of assignments, perform detailed or routine manufacturing engineering assignments involving processes and methods, bills of material, and cost estimates. Resolve engineering problems involved in manufacturing of products.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors of Science in a Manufacturing Engineering discipline or equivalent required
  • Work experience or familiarity and knowledge of computer-assisted equipment is required.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of analytical ability
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment
