Job Description:

Managing Director, Infrastructure Debt – SLC Management

What is in it for you:
The Infrastructure Debt team based in Toronto, finances global infrastructure across the following key verticals: power, energy infrastructure, social infrastructure, transportation, and digital infrastructure. The candidate will be a senior member of the team and will have the responsibility of sourcing investment opportunities, leading and mentoring junior staff members, and representing SLC Management in the global investment community.

The role encompasses all aspects of transaction execution from the origination of new investments and the analysis and structuring of new transactions to portfolio management of existing private infrastructure debt holdings.

What you will do:
• Origination and execution: lead the origination of new debt investment opportunities; structure, negotiate, and execute transactions in line with client’s risk-return objectives while providing strong relative value. Prepare detailed and well-written investment recommendations. You have demonstrated competencies in one or more of the above infrastructure verticals.
• Team leadership: Mentor and lead high-performing junior staff members on deal execution; collaborate with internal stakeholders.
• Strategic development: Contribute to the development and execution of the team’s strategy; maintain a deep understanding of market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape.
• Client focus: Support internal efforts to grow third-party assets under management by focusing on investment opportunities that meet client requirements, attending client pitches, etc.; represent SLC Management at conferences and industry events.
• Portfolio management: Oversee the management of an existing portfolio of infrastructure debt investments. Portfolio management responsibilities include handling consents, monitoring compliance and completing investment monitoring reports.

What you will need to succeed:
• MBA and/or CFA
• 10+ years of experience underwriting infrastructure debt investments
• Experience managing and/or mentoring junior team members
• Detailed knowledge of fundamental principles of debt and equity markets and instruments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Understanding of project finance and corporate legal documentation
• Extensive experience analyzing and interpreting financial statements
• Financial modelling skills, including the ability to build and audit models and carry out sensitivities
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with junior staff members
• Willingness to seek out new responsibilities to help accomplish team goals and build professional skills
• Collaborative and collegial attitude

ADDITIONAL SKILLS (OR PREFERRED SKILLS):
• Some travel required within Canada and internationally
• French language skills (or other languages) are an asset
