Job Description:The Head of Global Product plays a critical role in the development and execution of our product strategy and development and contributes to the strategic direction of Asset Management. This person will drive product development efforts for the entire platform, including ETF's, mutual funds and private market assets working very closely with colleagues in Investments and Distribution. Design and implement policies and procedures that promote TDs culture and vision. Partner with risk and control partners to align with the Bank's risk appetite, business strategies and standards.
Accountabilities:Reporting to the Head of Global Operations, Enablement and Strategy, the Head of Global Product is a subject matter expert within Product Development. The general accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Senior executive responsible for directing TDAM and TD Epoch product strategy and managing its product shelf. This responsibility encompasses all of the forms that an asset managers products may take (including but not limited to mutual funds, ETF's, structured products and other investment vehicles and managed accounts) and all of the channels through which these products may be distributed globally.
- Owns Retail & Institutional Product Development & Management globally.
- Responsible for product strategy to align with corporate strategy and growth outlook.
- Responsible for competitive intelligence on asset managers and trends in the market for product.
- Work closely with Investment team and Distribution teams in development of new mandates and strategies.
- Work closely with Investment Risk to review mandates and strategies to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Create guidelines for all mandates that specify allowable asset class allocations, risk allocations, and restrictions for portfolio managers.
- Develop product pricing strategy across vehicles and across both retail and institutional distribution channels.
- Work with sales teams, marketing and product research to determine approach for new products. Work with legal, compliance and operations to develop new vehicle structures to meet client needs.
- Responsible for performing gap analysis of existing product line up, determining future client needs and guiding the development of solutions to meet those needs.
- Taking a holistic view to the overall product lineup when considering product manager change requests. Consider the placement of products in their categories and within the constraints of platform compliance.
- Act as member of various management committees including Chair of Product Management Committee.
- Determining appropriate mergers, closures, feature, series extensions and pricing changes.
- Own initiation and maintenance of regulatory documentation for all vehicles including mutual funds, ETFs, pooled funds, CITs etc.
- Develop and maintain segregated models that align to the UMA/SMA environments in Canada and US.
- Works with senior leaders to develop product priorities based on the strategic priorities of TDAM/TD Epoch guide their teams in the execution of key initiatives.
- Defines and develop new business initiatives and major product line changes or expansions, consider the impact of pricing changes and cost allocations for overall firm profitability.
Specific Educational Requirements:- Undergraduate degree required; Post Graduate degree preferred.
- CFA designation is a requirement.
Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:- Minimum 15 years' experience in product development with specialized expertise in global institutional product design and execution.
- Previous experience developing and executing on strategies and delivering superior results in both the short and long term.
- Proven ability in leveraging deep subject matter expertise to align teams to a central vision, while also listening and engaging others to provide input in the shaping of that vision.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse group of professionals.
- Strong people management skills with demonstrated experience in leading high performing teams.
- Strong collaborator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees.
