The Opportunity:
Working directly with the Vice-Dean of MBA Programs and the Vice-Dean of Undergraduate and Specialized Programs, the Managing Director, Program Strategy and Student Experience is responsible for providing strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for all nine graduate programs. This position works closely with the Vice Deans to determine the strategy and direction of each of their program portfolios. Using a mindset of continuous improvement, the Managing Director will align the graduate program strategy with RSM’s strategic five-year plan.
The Managing Director will lead and oversee the Program Services Office (supporting all specialized and executive MBA programs), the Office of Student Engagement (supporting the full-time and morning and evening MBA programs), the Office of Experiential Learning and Practicum Placement, and the Registrar’s Office/Academic Services. The Managing Director will be responsible for developing the strategic implementation of programs with careful consideration of the areas of Policy Development, Curriculum Development, Program Development and Administration, External Relations and Communications, Student Services, Financial Aid, Academic Accommodations, and Misconduct.

As a key member of Rotman’s leadership team, the Managing Director takes on a pivotal role in shaping and supporting the graduate program strategy across the Business school. This leadership position involves guiding the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance the quality of programs and support services offered by the school, contributing significantly to the overall educational experience for students.
Qualifications:
I. EDUCATION: MBA or other relevant postgraduate degree and/or a combination of academic and senior program management experience such that the individual will have recognition and credibility with students, faculty, alumni, and the general business community.
II. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in program development and administration preferably within a graduate business school/university environment.
A creative but pragmatic strategic thinker with strong managerial, follow-through, and implementation skills along with proven marketing and networking talents. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to perform in an advocacy role and raise the profile of the MBA programs. Proven ability to perform effectively in the team-based collegial culture of Rotman and the University; advanced consultative, facilitation, and decision-making skills. A strong leader who can direct and manage a large team.
III. SKILLS: Due to the senior-level nature of this position, the Managing Director will be a confident self-starter with a wide variety of experience which can be applied to the demanding set of decisions which present themselves. Understanding of the complexity of the academic environment is an asset. Must be a strong leader who has an appreciation and understanding of the changing needs of business education, the changing competitive landscape and is able to position the Rotman Programs as preferred educational choice and a preferred corporate recruiting source.
