Job summary

AIMCo's Public Equities team is seeking a Managing Director, Head of External Partnerships to lead externally managed investment strategies and identify high-quality external managers. Based in Calgary, Alberta, the role directs manager selection, underwriting, portfolio construction, capital allocation, and negotiations, while developing the External Partnerships team.

The successful candidate will guide global manager relationships and contribute to AIMCo's portfolio objectives through

Qualifications

• 15+ years in institutional asset management or related field.
• Proven track record in external manager selection and oversight.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative evaluation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing, evaluation, underwriting and oversight of external managers across equity and absolute return strategies.
• Oversee portfolio construction, capital allocation and risk/return alignment.
• Negotiate investment management agreements and governance terms; manage external manager relationships.
