Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in compensation, HR systems, or workforce analytics.
  • Experience leading or supporting HCM or timekeeping system implementations.
  • Knowledge of Canada Labour Code, pay equity, and compensation best practices.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Midland Transport is currently seeking a Manager, Workforce Insights & Compensation to be based at our Head Office in Dieppe, NB. The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing human capital capabilities through strategic compensation design, workforce analytics, and system modernization as well as participating in workforce planning and the development of innovative compensation strategies that support talent attraction, retention, and equity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • HCM Modernization :
    • Lead efforts to modernize the HCM system to include position management, enabling more effective workforce planning, headcount tracking, and budgeting.
    • Collaborate with IT, Payroll, HR, and operational departments to ensure human capital management systems and transformation align with business requirements and compliance standards.
  • Total Rewards Management :
    • Partner with J.D. Irving centers of excellence to design and implement compensation strategies and frameworks that support organizational goals, market competitiveness, and internal equity.
    • Provide guidance to Midland leadership on job evaluations and pay decisions.
    • Monitor compensation trends and regulatory developments to inform policy updates.
  • Workforce Insights & Planning :
    • Oversee workforce planning processes in partnership with the HR Business Partners and Finance, including forecasting, scenario modeling, and headcount optimization.
    • Act as a subject matter expert within the Human Resources Department and lead execution of position control, timekeeping and data management workflows.
    • Analyze workforce data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities related to turnover, succession, and staffing levels.
    • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership to support data driven decision-making.
  • Partner with J.D. Irving Payroll to support efficient and timely payroll processing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education Required: University Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • CPHR or CCP designation is an asset
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in compensation, HR systems, or workforce analytics
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on timely precise results
  • Experience leading or supporting HCM or timekeeping system implementations
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret HR data and provide actionable insights
  • Knowledge of Canada Labour Code, pay equity, and compensation best practices
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and engage diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
