Job description

We are currently seeking a Manager of Watercourse Projects to lead our team based out of our Edmonton office. This is a full-time permanent position focused on leading watercourse ecology, environmental regulatory applications, and related projects. Project work is team-based, safety-driven, and is completed for the energy, forestry, government, and private landowners throughout the provinces of Alberta and BC.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient project execution;
  • Manage the Watercourse Team and project activities;
  • Lead and manage project deliverables, working relationships with peers, management, regulators, and clients;
  • Provide senior direction, business development, and strategy development;
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and best practices for watercourse management;
  • Support mobile technology, spatial data integrity, and web dashboards;
  • Review reports and data analysis from an ecological perspective;
  • Mentor and support professional development of team members.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • University Degree or technical diploma in Environmental, Earth Science, Forestry, Biology, Engineering, Geomatics, or Surveying;
  • Knowledge of best management practices and regulatory requirements for watercourse assessments and restorations;
  • Experience with Alberta Environment and Parks, Alberta Energy Regulator, and DFO permitting systems;
  • Experience applying the Public Lands Act, Water Act, Fisheries Act, Species at Risk Act, Wetland Policy, and related regulations;
  • Professional registration with Alberta’s regulatory organizations;
  • Qualified Aquatic Environmental Specialist;
  • 10+ years of relevant experience;
  • Strong technical writing, data analysis, and communication skills;
  • Teaching experience in ecological or data subjects is an asset;
  • Leadership, quality, safety, and customer service focus.
