The Role

The Engineering Group Manager of the Virtualization and SIL Integration team within the Software Defined Vehicle – Embedded Platforms organization will lead a technical team of Software Engineers specializing in virtualization and SIL integration. The role involves designing, building, and deploying Virtual Test Environments (CoSimulation Environments) at system and vehicle levels for automotive embedded software and calibration development. The EGM will work closely with a global team responsible for delivering CoSimulation environments for application and infrastructure software, as well as calibration development. Leadership responsibilities include managing GM direct and contract resources across multiple scrum teams, utilizing agile methodologies to implement virtualization strategies. Essential experience includes software-centric vehicle and system virtualization, industry standards (FMU, SSP), cloud computing architecture, virtual ECU development processes, embedded controls systems, and strong leadership skills. The role involves overseeing the development, release, and deployment of virtual test assets and collaborating with global virtualization, systems, and user teams.

What you will do

• Manage the team responsible for virtual test assets and CoSimulation environment development.
• Lead a team of GM employees and/or contractors (onsite, remote, offshore) working on CoSimulation development.
• Strategize and enhance CoSimulation development and scalability.
• Collaborate with other organizational parts to ensure strategic alignment and support product roadmap for automotive embedded software requirements.
• Lead the development and deployment of scalable cloud-based CoSimulation solutions.
• Coordinate with platform and CICD teams to integrate continuous testing using virtual ECUs and CoSimulation packages in cloud platforms.
• Engage with embedded software development teams across domains to understand needs and develop CoSimulation solutions proactively.
• Oversee daily team activities, assign tasks, and ensure milestone delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and foster cross-functional collaboration.
• Initiate and lead new methods or initiatives without predefined procedures.
• Ensure team targets are met.
• Review and approve engineering documentation.
• Lead staffing initiatives and hiring processes.
