What is the opportunity?

As a Manager, Underwriting, you work to effectively identify and manage risks associated with equipment financing transactions. You support the completion of lease transactions by collaborating with Equipment Financing Specialists, CAG/GRM, EFSC members, and RBC Enterprise Groups to realize RBC Equipment Finance growth priorities.

What will you do?

Deliver an Exceptional Client Experience

  • In conjunction with your EFS and EFSC partners, you create exceptional Client experiences by delivering on activities efficiently and effectively to support RBC Equipment Finance Solutions.
  • Lead with a growth mindset, focusing on what’s possible to streamline and simplify processes while delivering an exceptional Client experience.
  • Demonstrate task stewardship and care in every decision and activity.
  • Collaborate with your partners to make the most of every interaction, documenting key points in the system, meeting immediate needs in a timely fashion and taking action to solve and prevent problems.
  • Take ownership and resolve client impact concerns and requests at first point of contact, escalating to your manager in a timely manner to ensure minimal impact to their experience.

Drive Sustainable Growth Through Prudent Transaction Management: Win as One RBC

  • Demonstrate a One RBC mindset by collaborating with Equipment Financing Specialists, EFSC partners, CAG/GRM, and RBC Enterprise Groups to deliver innovative and effective lease solutions to clients.
  • Work collaboratively with Equipment Financing Specialists, and Commercial Advisory Group (CAG) or Group Risk Management to ensure any risks associated with equipment financing transactions are identified and mitigated in accordance with RBC equipment financing product policies and guidelines.
  • Act as a “centre of expertise” in the investigation, formulation, and completion of lease structures and in the valuation of equipment.

Execution Excellence

  • Speak up for and about inclusion, creating the conditions where colleagues and clients’ uniqueness is appreciated and valued.
  • Review activities and outcomes weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly to identify successes and areas to refine. Proactively prepare for all coaching and review meetings.
  • Ensure skills/knowledge are up to date and will meet the needs of Clients served. Seek opportunities for coaching and capability growth.
  • Build capabilities across RBC Equipment Finance by sharing best practices, coaching, and assisting colleagues for individual and team success.

Doing What’s Right: Manage Risk & Operational Effectiveness

  • You take ownership of your activities and tasks and necessary skill development.
  • Adhere to policy and procedure and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the activities and tasks of your role.
  • Follow all anti-money laundering and fraud prevention requirements.
  • Exercise due diligence with all activities regarding know your client, the transaction, the policy, the process, and the related risk controls in place.
  • Ensure all activities are accurately completed within service level agreements.
  • Actively speak up and engage leaders to enhance process efficiencies.
  • Take required measures to protect Vendor & Lessee/Client information, being aware and respectful of client data privacy and preferences.

What do you need to succeed?

Must to have:

  • Strong oral and written skills.
  • Team-oriented but yet disciplined to work on your own. Strong understanding that the client comes first.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in commercial lease financing, in a credit and administration capacity.
  • Broad general knowledge of equipment, as to values, rates of depreciations, useful life, and application.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment appraisals.
  • General knowledge of lease and conditional sale documentation required to properly secure a finance transaction.
  • General knowledge of security registration in Canada and credit terminology.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Undergraduate Degree.
