Job description
What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Director, Governance, Controls and Finance Operations, the Manager, Governance and Controls, will play a significant role in the implementation of Treasury and Finance governance, compliance and control initiatives, programs and processes. The position is responsible for ensuring that an effective and well documented internal control structure is in place for Treasury and Finance in accordance with current governance, risk and compliance requirements. The role works with all related infrastructure groups to ensure that Treasury and Finance’s risk management and control framework is rigorous and supports the division while being consistent with CIBC’s policies and procedures. The role is also responsible for the test of controls, deficiency management, and assertion process for Treasury and Finance group.

How You’ll Succeed
  • Control activities - Test the design and operating effectiveness of FPC, RCM and OPC internal controls within Treasury and Finance, including executing the annual internal control test plan for Finance, scheduling and facilitating walkthroughs, perform management testing and following-up on issues or deficiencies raised by Treasury and Finance Management, CIBC’s Global Operational Risk Management, internal/external auditors, regulators and the control performers. In addition, facilitate quarterly assertion process for Finance groups, review and provide feedback on existing process and procedure documents, and participate and support the SOMO with key initiatives and projects (e.g. development of end to end Process Map, process documents, etc.), as required.
  • Governance – Work closely with the SOMO to provide advice to Accountable Officers on Governance best practices in alignment with CIBC policies and industry standards.
  • Operational risk management – Ensure the completion of assigned incident reports, Risk and controls self-assessments and change initiative risk assessments.
Who You Are
  • You can demonstrate experience in or have strong knowledge of financial products (products and processes) and control activities with a minimum of 3-5 years working experience. It would be an asset if you had a background in risk management, process documentation and control design in the context of a financial services organization and/or financial, operational, management and general entity controls to enable the creation of a sound control framework and the continuous improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls across the division. A university degree in Business Management (or equivalent), along with completion of or progress towards an accounting designation, would be considered an asset.
