What is the opportunity?

Personal Banking’s Value Office, in the COO group, is a dedicated team with the objective of shaping the Personal Banking business for the future and driving alignment and execution of strategic priorities in partnership with the various lines of businesses and functional partners. Within the Value Office, the Business Performance & Portfolio Management team is looking to hire a Manager to support Transformation and Strategic Performance Management.

In this role, you will need to bring a strategic mindset to help connect strategic objectives and performance both horizontally across the organization and vertically through an understanding of individual lines of business. You will gain an understanding of key organizational priorities and the ability to translate performance of the organization, based on financial and qualitative metrics, into concise insights for executive consumption. The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of helping solve business problems with a consulting mindset and approach; through stakeholder relationship management and logical reasoning paired with your experience in financial services and passion for driving business value, you will develop data driven insights and support executive decision making to move strategic objectives forward. You will have a grasp of the business, understand concepts across project/ portfolio management and business metrics, and have technical capabilities in productivity tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI). The successful candidate will lead with an inquisitive mind and bring creativity and innovation to solutions. You should be comfortable both at the conceptual level and in the details, working as part of a small team with a collective goal, proactively partnering in areas where you can add value.

What will you do?

  • Be the conduit between leadership/senior partners and cross-functional teams on performance metrics
  • Build and present content for executive level presentations
  • Develop executive facing quarterly reporting routines, supporting development, providing suggestions and guidance on how to improve clarity, quality, and efficacy of materials and routines
  • Collect and analyze data from various sources to inform business decisions
  • Identify trends and patterns in data to provide insights and recommendations
  • Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members and stakeholders across multiple projects and functions
  • With your team, you will conduct current state analyses against strategic business objectives and broader organizational targets to develop recommendations and execution strategies to achieve desired results
  • Actively seek opportunities and work across businesses and functions to drive value through analytics and insights
  • Bring innovative ideas and approaches–including bringing the best from inside and outside RBC–to how we understand and solution problems

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 2-4 years previous Consulting and/or Enterprise Strategy experience, preferably in the financial, insurance or retail space
  • Strong Problem Solving, Analytical, and Data Analysis Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for executive audience
  • Comfortable working with stakeholders, possess the ability to translate high level requests into clear detailed written requirements
  • Driven and resourceful individual who is self-motivated, comfortable managing competing priorities and at times, ambiguous requirements
  • Experience in business analysis and critical thinking with demonstrated use of productivity tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Understanding of financial institutions/ industry and interest in business analysis/ continuous improvement
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint experience with ability to use PowerPoint and performance data to support storytelling to various audiences
  • Ability to synthesize and drive insights from performance and financial data
  • A curiosity to go “behind the curtain” to understand key drivers of results and outcomes

Nice to have:

  • Stakeholder facilitation/management skills
  • Experience in Tableau or other reporting tools
  • Knowledge of retail banking in Canada
