Reporting to: Senior Manager, Global Client Team & Market Centre

The Manager role will oversee sales and business development for the TMX Market Centre. This includes internal and external client events, conferences, receptions, sit-down dinners, annual general meetings (AGMs), vendor fairs, and more. This role requires a strong blend of operational management, client relationship expertise, sales acumen, and leadership skills.

Key Accountabilities:

Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary contact, nurturing and maintaining relationships with existing clients (internal and external stakeholders).

  • Ensure exceptional client experiences and address any grievances or negotiations effectively.

Sales and Business Development:

  • Create and implement a strategic sales and promotional plan to increase awareness and event bookings of the TMX Market Centre.

  • Take responsibility for sales initiatives and efforts to grow business for the TMX Market Centre.

Operational Management:

  • Partner with team members of the TMX Client Centre, ensuring efficiency and excellence in event execution.

  • Ensure property safety and security protocols are maintained.

  • Review and analyze budgets, evaluate performance and productivity, and generate comprehensive reports and presentations.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with strategic partners, internal and external service providers to deliver exceptional service in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Support the broader TMX Group Sales, Event & Marketing teams efforts as needed to ensure alignment with operations.

Must haves:

  • Post-secondary education in Event Management, Hospitality Management, or Business Administration.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in event management and hospitality.

  • Proven record of success in sales and business development within the corporate event space.

  • Strong understanding of event management practices and industry dynamics.

  • Experience in handling client grievances and negotiations.

  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to customer service.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines effectively.

  • Proven decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and motivation to achieve success.

  • Experience working with vendors and managing vendor relationships.

  • Availability to work evenings and early mornings as required.
