About Potash

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.

Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Work Location

Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

Purpose

Reporting to the VP Sales & Marketing Potash, the Manager Technical & Supply Chainleads development of Potash technical marketing activities, supply chain establishment and liaison with the Asset. The role oversees key aspects of product development and quality assurance, as well as regulatory compliance including securing product and import clearances for global and U.S. sales. The role also supports development of Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) routines, focusing on forecasting, inventory, and order fulfilment for both export and North American markets.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Provide Marketing input into product specifications, quality metrics, establish sampling/testing programs to meet customer requirements, and support non-conformance processes.
  • Lead efforts to secure initial and ongoing product/import clearances, develop state-by-state compliance frameworks, and establish reporting systems to ensure adherence to U.S. regulations.
  • Contribute to initial design and execution of S&OP processes including forecasting, inventory management, order fulfilment for both export and North American markets.
  • Provide input during requirements gathering, definition, and testing phases for systems like SAP, LIMS, Integrated Production Planning/Scheduling, and Potash Logistics.
  • Advise on partnerships with barge facilities, warehouses, and rail terminals; support contract setup for logistics and customer consignment.
  • Participate in evaluating downstream facilities, ensuring alignment with BHP’s HSSE standards and future third-party assessments.
  • Contribute expertise to distribution modelling, identifying bottlenecks and suggesting improvements in routing, cycle times, and risk mitigation.
About You
  • 10+ years working experience in Sales & Marketing, Logistics or Product Quality roles in a commodity business.
  • Bachelor degree in a commercial, technical (process engineering, metallurgy) or other relevant discipline (or higher).
  • Experience in potash or fertilizer markets and supply chains, particularly in North America.
  • Strong familiarity with bulk commodity markets and supply chains, particularly with S&OP processes and rail logistics.
  • Experience in fertilizer industry (particularly with Potash) and understanding of product quality and handling.
  • Knowledge of potash regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working across both local and global teams to drive commercial results, with a focus on risk management and ability to design and test strategic scenarios.
