Reporting to the Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Manager, Talent Acquisition, will be responsible for full cycle talent acquisition activities for salaried and permanent hourly hires for our Commercial (Buildings) division.
This is a full time, permanent position, and can be based in the Ottawa, ON, or the Mississauga, ON, office.
What You Will Be Working On
Oversee the Eastern Talent Acquisition portfolio for our Commercial division.
Partner with business leaders to understand workforce needs and translate them into effective recruitment plans.
Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, providing guidance on market trends, talent availability, and best practices.
Collaborate with HR and business leaders to support workforce planning and succession initiatives.
Develop a thorough understanding of the business, client needs and specific talent pools.
Identify critical talent through direct sourcing techniques and strong networking on behalf of Bird Construction.
Assist with reporting metrics for Talent Acquisition and campus related activities.
Establish strong internal relationships with the business.
Execute various Talent Acquisition projects to completion and support the objectives and strategy for hiring activities.
Support the execution of the national employment brand for Bird Construction as an employer of choice social media, events, and partnerships with external organizations.
Lead salary negotiations and recommendations.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 1-2 TA professionals to deliver exceptional candidate and hiring manager experiences.
Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and foster a collaborative and accountable team culture.
Provide coaching and direction, as well as conduct performance plans and assessments with direct reports.
Maintain high level of morale among direct reports.
What We Are Looking For
Relevant combination of post-secondary education (preferably in Human Resources) and experience
RPR designation an asset
7+ years’ internal full cycle talent acquisition experience in hourly and / or salaried recruitment within the construction or related industry
1-2+ years’ leadership experience
Workday experience an asset
Familiarity with the dynamics, operations, processes and organizational interdependencies of construction / industrial services preferred
Experience with and talent acquisition strategies, programs, vendors and tools
Experience with direct sourcing a requirement for the role
Solid understanding of workforce-related federal and provincial employment laws and regulations as it relates to talent acquisition practices
Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently
Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a focused team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
Strong organization, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated, action oriented and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a positive attitude
Highly developed interpersonal skills, strong customer service and problem-solving orientation

The compensation range for this position is 115,000-120,000 annually.
