Staples Canada seeks a Manager of Strategic Retail Initiatives to lead strategic retail programs, coordinating resources and vendors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. You will work with business leaders to define objectives, manage risks, and report progress to executives.

Some of what you will do

This position is dedicated to championing the development and management of strategic retail initiatives to further enable/accelerate growth of retail sales. The Manager of Strategic Retail Initiatives will plan, execute, finalize and manage through all phases of the project lifecycle according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party vendors to deliver projects according to plan. They will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control, risk management, and stakeholder expectations throughout its life cycle.

This position is dedicated to championing the development and management of strategic retail initiatives to further enable/accelerate growth of retail sales. The Manager of Strategic Retail Initiatives will plan, execute, finalize and manage through all phases of the project lifecycle according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party vendors to deliver projects according to plan. They will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control, risk management, and stakeholder expectations throughout its life cycle.

Specifically, You Will

• Contribute and support the build and management of a strategic initiative management framework which supports growth of retail sales
• This role includes collaborating with business leaders across the entire organization to identify top-priority strategic initiatives, scope these initiatives, develop presentations for Executive team approval, and identify the critical roadmap to enable success.
• Lead and execute a diverse range of initiatives aimed at fostering the growth and sustainability of the retail business. Key areas of focus include developing strategic partnerships with internal and external partners, managing labor and structural initiatives, supporting new business operational setup, and overseeing general retail operations project management
• Responsible for strategic planning, monitoring, managing, and delivery of mission critical initiatives and projects for Lead cross-functional partnerships to steer projects toward success, ensuring they comply with the company’s strategic objectives, policies, and budgets.
• Leads project team(s) and assumes day to day planning, management and control of retail initiatives program development and maintenance of a project(s), including the selection of methodologies, techniques and tools that are appropriate to the project(s).
• Communicate objectives, milestones, risks, and progress to stakeholders across the business, including the senior leadership team.
• Serve as a trusted ambassador of each retail initiatives project, championing the strategy and benefits across the organization.
• Leverage data-based insights to influence each initiative and report back on initiative results across both qualitative and quantitative measures.

Some Of What You Need

• 4+ years of experience in management roles for complex retail process-based projects
• 5+ years leadership experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
• Strong project management skills; PMP certification is an asset.
• Strong financial acumen, with prior experience in creating “Level of Efforts” (LOE), Business Cases, and ROI assessments.
• A curious approach that is excited by what’s possible and what’s next.
• Good judgment and superior troubleshooting skills required for project-related and complex situations.
• Strong leadership, communication and relationship building skills
• In depth knowledge of and ability to adapt project management practices
