Reporting into the AVP of Strategic Partnerships, this role is responsible for retaining, enhancing and building strategic partnerships within the SOVs delegated authority space. While initial focuses will be on growing the Strategic Partnerships’ business and footprint in Quebec, the role will hold national scope and will help drive Sovereign’s growth objectives with a focus on accelerating profitability through alternative distribution partnerships. The incumbent will be expected to ramp up to intermediate knowledge of specialty lines insurance products (Cyber, Director’s and Officers Liability, Errors and Omissions and Equipment Breakdown) and carry direct profit and loss responsibilities in their area of expertise.

How you will create impact:

  • Own and develop the overall client strategy including strategic coordination and deployment of Sovereign’s expertise proposition
  • Build credibility and social capital with clients to manage escalations and further growth initiatives
  • Develop client renewal strategy, ensure smooth renewals and retention
  • Overall monitoring of expertise value proposition delivery: inspections, claims SLA, Training, Underwriting SLA
  • Pursue opportunities for growth/ cross sell or embedment
  • Project manage new deals business case process, determine deal structure (commission, CPC etc) and ensure the business case is present and well socialized
  • Attend product proposal meeting and offer support to influence deal closure
  • Be the conduit/ buffer between client and Sovereign - preserve and enhance expertise proposition, client experience when interacting with the rest of the organization

To join our team:

  • An MBA or bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, marketing, or statistics is preferred.
  • CIP or actuarial exams is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills with an aptitude for consultative and advisory approach to business development. Strong abilities in influencing, negotiation and presentations will be required to be successful in the role.
  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial or Personal Lines underwriting would be advantageous but not essential. Candidates with backgrounds from brokerages, business development, advisory, consulting and B2B selling to executives within the insurance, technology or financial services industry are welcome to express interest.
  • Experience in operations, and solid working knowledge devising marketing objectives and plans with sound business acumen.
  • 2+ years of experience performing as a Client Manager or experience with executive level industry leaders preferably working with large regional and national P&C carriers
  • Strong knowledge in risk assessment and appetite
  • Business level bilingual proficiencies in French and English are essential
  • Technologically savvy and proficient in PC skills, Power Point, Excel, and Word and CRM tools.

  • You will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
  • A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
  • You are required to have a valid driver’s license.
  • You will travel 25% - 50% of the time. Travel will include broker/MGA offices to meet with partners, attend events or complete audits.
