We’re looking for a Manager, D&O (Directors and officers liability insurance) & Crime, within our Financial and Professional Lines group, to join our growing team!
You will motivate and manage a high performing team of Underwriters to achieve Intact’s objectives. You will stretch your team with short and long term goals surrounding growth, profitability, productivity and engagement. They will advance by your side as you inspire, coach and mentor them.
This role requires a minimum of 3 days a week in the Toronto office.
What you’ll do here:
Develop, recommend, and implement leadership strategies, organizational structure, and process/technology improvement initiatives
Align departmental objectives with corporate objectives
Guide, coach, and develop talented D&O and Crime Underwriters and clearly convey goals and action plans
Provide effective leadership by continuously keeping staff informed on changes/results and the overall performance, productivity and engagement of team members
Evaluate staff performance and prepare formal Performance Reviews
Perform quality reviews on team members to further staff development ensuring risk selection criteria is adhered to for all products
Collaborate with other Managers and underwriting teams nationally to recommend ways in which the team can achieve regional goals in pursuit of growth and profitability and to identify ways to create consistency and workflow efficiencies and be a resource for underwriting related matters
Proactively manage workflow and resources within the D&O/Crime team
Play a key and active role in the selection process and hiring of employees who will deliver a legendary level of service to our brokers
Conduct Broker Management reviews and make recommendations based on volume, profitability, and quality of submissions
Provide technical expertise and assist with the resolution of identified problems
Collaborate with your Director and Vice-President on various projects and operational items
What you bring to the table:
Minimum 5 years of underwritting experience in Specialty Lines
Have previous experience in D&O and Crime
Sound knowledge of all Financial and Professional Lines
Experience or recognized skills in mentoring, coaching and development
Team management experience an asset
University and/or College Degree or any combination of equivalent education preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build effective relationship with brokers
Strategically minded, sales focused and adaptable
Strong customer service orientation
Outstanding organizational and time management skills
Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
Ability to drive change and adapt to a constantly changing environment
High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
