Job description

Location: Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON

Position Overview

We are seeking a technically strong individual to join the Trading & Compliance Systems team in a hands-on leadership capacity. This role is focused on technical ownership and delivery of solutions supporting the firm’s trading and compliance platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with investment and operations professionals to design, build, and support mission-critical systems, without direct people management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of software solutions for the firm’s trading and compliance functions.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, and back-office users to address business needs and deliver scalable technical solutions.
  • Define and apply development methodologies, coding standards, and best practices within the team, ensuring consistency and maintainability.
  • Work with product owners, analysts, and other IS teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.
  • Ensure all software is tested, documented, deployed, and maintained according to change and release management processes.
  • Monitor and resolve issues across trading and compliance platforms; perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies related to software delivery.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and technologies that improve system performance and development efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and contribute to resolving complex development challenges.
  • Support a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software development, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in developing software solutions for trading and compliance functions, including order management, trade execution, risk management, and regulatory reporting.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and technologies including C#, .NET, Angular/Typescript, PowerShell, SQL, Web Services, and APIs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure is desirable.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRIMS) or an equivalent OMS is advantageous.
