A leading cultural institution in Ottawa is seeking a Manager of Security Services to ensure a safe environment for patrons and staff. This role involves developing security policies, overseeing personnel, and managing emergency situations. Candidates should be bilingual and possess significant experience in corporate security, along with strong communication and management skills. The position requires flexibility in work hours to accommodate events.
Key Activities
Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations, the Manager, Security Services is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patrons, visitors, artists, staff, and contractors at the NAC.
As the Manager of Security Services, the incumbent must develop, implement, and monitor protection services policies and procedures to ensure everyone's safety. This includes developing and maintaining Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness Plans, and ensuring key senior management are familiar with these plans. The incumbent oversees all security systems at the NAC, stays current with developments in security and emergency management, updates NAC requirements as needed, and ensures a 24-hour operational patrol on the premises. Reporting incidents is also a key responsibility.
This role can involve stressful situations; therefore, the incumbent must manage these calmly and professionally. Maintaining confidentiality of business information and the privacy of staff, artists, and patrons is essential.
The incumbent is also responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling security personnel, managing disciplinary matters, and resolving conflicts according to the collective agreement.
The work schedule varies to meet business needs, including daytime, evening, and weekend work depending on events.
