The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Manager, Scientific Computing. Reporting to the Operations Director, Neuroinformatics and working closely with the Chief Analytics Officer and Director of Data and Reporting, this position is responsible for the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-performance computing infrastructure and scientific computing services supporting CAMH’s research community. The role also includes oversight of a dedicated informatics team and close collaboration with clinical and research teams.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction for scientific computing and infrastructure services; leading the design, deployment, and optimization of high-performance computing (HPC) platforms; supporting end-to-end research workflows across clinical, imaging, genomic, and behavioral datasets; and leading a team of engineers and technical staff in delivering robust, secure, and scalable computing systems. You will oversee operational planning, budgeting, and vendor engagement for infrastructure procurement, while collaborating with clinicians, investigators, and external partners to align technical services with institutional and research goals. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in HPC, cloud-based scientific computing, and research informatics, and will demonstrate the ability to navigate complex interdisciplinary environments. This position is located at CAMH’s College Street site and supports hybrid work arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of HPC systems and scientific computing platforms.
  • Provide leadership to a team of informatics specialists, setting performance goals and ensuring service excellence.
  • Oversee infrastructure procurement and budgeting, including software and hardware evaluation, acquisition, and vendor management.
  • Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance across computing environments.
  • Collaborate with research and clinical stakeholders to align infrastructure with evolving needs and institutional priorities.
  • Deliver dashboards, reports, and presentations to summarize system status, project progress, and strategic metrics.
  • Promote staff development, learning, and leadership through coaching and goal setting.
  • Ensure integration with CAMH’s broader informatics and cybersecurity strategy.
  • Support innovation and optimization of data processing pipelines and computational workflows.
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years managing and optimizing high-performance computing environments.
  • 5+ years designing and deploying HPC solutions for large-scale research computing.
  • 3+ years leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of parallel computing, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and scientific workflow management tools.
  • Proven experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and systems integration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in healthcare or mental health research settings is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset.
