What You'll Be Doing

Global Operational Risk Management (GORM) is responsible for providing oversight of CIBC's global operational risk exposures through the Operational Risk Management and Control Frameworks including people, technology, processes or external events. The Operational Risk Management team and Control Programs is part of GORM and is responsible for developing and managing frameworks, policies, systems, tools and processes to ensure CIBC has a sound internal control environment, meets regulatory requirements and is effective in managing operational risks. The group is also responsible for operational risk measurement including the calculation of operational risk capital in compliances with the regulatory requirements. As the Risk Manager, in this second line of defense risk management role, you will provide support in implementing the Operational Incident Reporting process which establishes a consistent approach to identify and assess root causes of the operational breakdowns, effectiveness of existing controls and development of remediation actions. You will work closely with the business partners and GORM portfolio managers to ensure consistent enterprise-wide delivery of the program to assist the business lines to better understand their operational risks and prevent future recurrence of similar incidents. You will support facilitating presentation of incidents at the Risk Assessment Review Committee (RARC), an enterprise-level committee. In addition, you will play a key role in providing training and communication to the stakeholders when rolling out program enhancements, and proactively identifying areas for continuous program improvement.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Efficient and Organized – You will be working in a multi-tasking environment with tight timelines, balancing a number of priorities to ensure timely completion of incident reports and presentation at RARC
  • Analytical and Detail Oriented - You will be responsible for thorough review of incident notifications to ensure that required information is presented as per program guidelines, program related reporting & analytics, data migration & validation, and program tool design & testing when rolling out enhancements
  • Collaborate - You will frequently liaise with business partners, and GORM portfolio managers to establish collaborative relationships, facilitate RARC committee meetings, provide expertise and training to all stakeholders, and communicate changes or issues identified.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in reporting processes and have good analytical skills using Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. You are familiar with banking products and services, including regulatory requirements, and operational risk management processes and procedure. It’s an asset if you have any experience/ exposure in Financial Analysis or Business Controls.
  • You have a University Degree and work experience in the Financial Industry.
