This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.
Your role
You will lend your expertise to the Revenue Optimization unit of CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions, using your extensive knowledge of the media market including, but not limited to: audience research methodologies and forecasting; audience post-analysis and tracking; station share; platform impression traffic analysis, pricing and innovative go-to-market strategies; operations, strategy and budget planning including evaluation of programming scenarios’ on revenues; and any other special project such as the Olympics or special events.
You will work with the Foresight & Strategy, Sales, Media Creativity, Sales Administration, Traffic, Finance and Schedule and Broadcasting teams to facilitate client relationships and improve operational efficiency. You will advise sales teams across the country on commercial inventory, audience & impression forecasting, pricing, sales negotiation approval, presentations, etc. You will contribute to programming-related decisions, non-linear product initiatives and digital distribution expansion strategies with an eye to optimizing revenue potential, and work with the Finance team on budget planning.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a team of approximately 5-10 employees
- Work with the directors for all high-level confidential program revenue analyses. Lead data collection for annual budget planning and craft high-level dynamic presentations.
- Act as revenue optimization lead on all corporate agreement negotiations, recommending renewal strategies to provide advice on revenue optimization to Sales teams at the annual agreement renewal strategy session.
- Proactively monitor inventory usage and adjust rates based on marketplace demand for the French Television Network (FTN,) English Television Network (ETN,) English digital market and French digital market. Authorize the required licences for negotiation and closing of sales.
- Establish inventory policies and procedures and recommend inventory reallocation strategies based on demand, sales trends, seasonal changes, spikes, etc.
- Take part in programming performance tracking to process results from shows as well as new products and platforms.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- University degree with specialization in Business Administration or a related field, and five years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience in media, advertising, marketing or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the advertising industry and how it functions, as well as relevant industry experience such as buying or planning in an agency.
- Management skills and confidence in leading a team in a unionized environment.
- Extensive computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite products, and a high propensity to pick up new computer programs. Experience with multiple media research tools, specifically Infosys+ software, Vividata, Nielsen Expenditure Reports, ComScore, Cognos and Google Ad Manager.
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to understand, interpret and evaluate complex data and/or business cases so as to make recommendations and compile highlights.
- Excellent work organization skills to be able to manage projects covering many varied sectors. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive demands.
- Excellent facilitation, verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to develop and foster relationships with a diverse group of people.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop solutions in alignment with stakeholders’ strategic directions and priorities.
- Ability to contribute to the success of a team by fostering a positive work mindset, sharing your knowledge, experience and ideas, and being open to the ideas of others.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
- A high level of English and French is required (spoken, written and reading), as this role will require you to interact regularly with people in both languages.
