We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research and Development Manager to lead the development and application of innovative baked goods solutions. The R&D Manager will manage projects from concept to commercialization, ensuring high-quality products and food safety, while providing excellent customer service.
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment in the manufacturing plant that encourages camaraderie and continuous improvement.
  2. Project Management: Lead applied research and technology innovation projects in the baked goods sector.
  3. Sensory Evaluation: Manage baked goods sample evaluations and application testing using various equipment and processes.
  4. Customer Focus: Collaborate with internal and external customers to understand their needs and develop solutions, troubleshooting challenges throughout the product lifecycle with a focus on high-quality customer service.
  5. Recipe Development: Develop and refine new product application recipes, applying scientific principles to optimize taste and functionality.
  6. Product & Raw Material Management: Maintain adequate stock of standardized products and raw materials to expedite product development times.
  7. Ingredient Validation: Validate ingredient functionality in final products, conduct shelf-life studies to ensure stability and safety.
  8. Documentation: Record research findings, test results, and project details meticulously according to protocols.
  9. Laboratory Skills: Possess hands-on laboratory experience and proficiency in data management.
  10. Industry Expertise: Stay informed about industry trends, food safety regulations, and standards to ensure R&D compliance with local and international requirements.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry.
  • Minimum 5 years in food product development, focusing on baked goods solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of food science principles, ingredients, and recipe formulation.
  • Proven project management skills and ability to structure and manage work effectively.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in ambiguous environments.
  • Innovative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strategic thinking aligned with customer expectations.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
