Job description

Manager, Proposals and Contracts , Canada, USA

The Manager, Proposals and Contracts is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the Proposal and Contracts Manager (PCM) team, by developing and supporting the individuals as well as reviewing their proposal, budget and contracts deliverables to ensure they meet the client RFP specifications and Indero’s standards. This person will work with the Director, Proposals and Contracts to maintain and improve new project estimates best practices and tools across departments.

The Manager, Project Coordination has line management responsibility for functional area staff in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing the training of the new employees, participating in hiring activities, performance management, guiding professional development, addressing and escalating employee issues, as necessary.

Responsibilities

More specifically, the Manager, Proposals and Contracts must:

  • Assign and supervise the lead Proposal and Contract Manager to the request for proposal (RFP) response activities in all stages, including RFP launch meetings, RFI responses and internal requests for CRO, vendor, and clinical fees.
  • Measure and balance the workload amongst the team.
  • Performs quality checks of the proposal budget, timelines and scope for estimates and contracts completed by the team.
  • Provide innovative solutions to help identify process improvements.
  • Collaborate with CRO departmental leaders to guarantee the quality of deliverables and meeting expected deadlines.
  • Maintain the estimation tool up to date and suggest improvements when necessary.
  • Ensures adequate training of resource and oversees practices to ensure alignment of practices across the team through adoption and use of all process and technology tools.
  • Mentors and coaches PCM team.
  • Oversees the performance of direct reports and performs annual reviews; guides professional development.
  • Employee may be assigned to other responsibilities that do not pertain to their former description, if they have the required experience, are qualified and/or have received adequate training.

Requirements:

IDEAL PROFILE

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Master's degree is an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years successful experience in clinical research in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or CRO industry, including experience and excellent understanding of CRO operations and financial project management.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Experience with Clear Trial costing tool considered a serious asset.
  • Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, and composition as well as writing, editing, and oral communication.
  • Strong project management skills, experience leading teams and working with cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated business analysis skills
  • Strong mastery of Excel and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage concurrent priorities in a fast paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and proactive communication
  • Ability to build, engage and energize the team and set high performance expectations
  • Supervisory or line management experience is an asset
  • Good knowledge of good clinical practices, and applicable Health Canada and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations/guidelines.
