JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Projects is responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex land and right-of-way projects while supporting the effective operation of the regional project team.

This role provides project, client, and operational leadership across a regional portfolio of public and private land acquisition projects supporting transmission, renewable energy, oil and gas, public infrastructure, telecommunications, and other infrastructure developments. The Manager, Projects is accountable for project delivery, financial performance, resource planning, risk management, quality, and client satisfaction, while providing strategic direction on land acquisition and regulatory matters.

The successful candidate will bring strong land and right-of-way expertise, proven project management capability, sound operational judgment, and the ability to lead teams and resolve complex issues in a practical and professional manner.

COMPENSATION

The Manager, Projects position offers an annual salary range of $95,000 to $125,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and location. This position is also eligible for participation in LandSolutions' incentive program and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

RESPONSIBILITIES PROJECT MANAGEMENT & DELIVERY
  • Lead the planning and delivery of a regional portfolio of public and private land and right-of-way projects across LandSolutions’ service sectors.
  • Establish and oversee project scopes, budgets, schedules, milestones, resource requirements, and delivery priorities.
  • Review project contracts and client requirements and manage scope changes, change orders, and other contractual matters.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, risks, deliverables, and emerging issues, implementing corrective action and escalating material concerns as required.
  • Manage project financial performance, including revenue, margin, forecasting, work in progress, billing, and resource utilization.
  • Ensure project documentation, reporting, quality reviews, invoicing, and closeout requirements are completed accurately and on schedule.
LAND & RIGHT-OF-WAY LEADERSHIP
  • Provide strategic direction on land acquisition approaches, stakeholder engagement, and applicable regulatory processes.
  • Lead and support complex negotiations involving easements, rights-of-way, access agreements, land purchases, damages, and other property interests.
  • Resolve complex landowner and stakeholder concerns with discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism.
  • Provide technical guidance and practical, field-based solutions to project teams.
  • Ensure land activities and documentation comply with applicable legislation, regulations, contractual requirements, client standards, and established procedures.
  • Engage legal, regulatory, environmental, survey, Indigenous relations, and other subject-matter experts when required.
CLIENT & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, building trusted relationships through consistent communication, sound advice, issue resolution, and reliable delivery.
  • Understand client objectives and ensure project delivery remains aligned with agreed expectations and commercial requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to retain and expand client relationships and lead or support proposals, scopes, pricing, presentations, and project planning.
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients, landowners, Indigenous communities and rights holders, regulatory bodies, municipalities, project partners, and internal stakeholders.
OPERATIONAL & TEAM LEADERSHIP
  • Lead regional workforce and capacity planning, including staffing forecasts, resource allocation, recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
  • Lead, coach, and develop project and regional staff by establishing clear expectations, managing performance, and supporting professional development.
  • Monitor workloads, assignments, and utilization to support effective delivery and employee well-being.
  • Collaborate with regional and functional leaders to share resources, improve processes, and promote consistent practices across LandSolutions.
  • Provide senior leadership with regular reporting on project, financial, staffing, client, and operational performance.
  • Uphold company policies, safety requirements, quality standards, and professional and ethical expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Postsecondary education in land administration, business, project management, planning, legal studies, environmental studies, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering land acquisition, right-of-way, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, jurisdictions, workstreams, and deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of land acquisition practices, property rights, negotiation processes, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, financial performance, resources, risks, and client reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop geographically dispersed or field-based teams.
  • Strong client relationship, communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment when addressing sensitive or complex matters.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant project management, financial, and land administration systems.
  • Project management or relevant land industry designation is considered an asset.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project locations as required.
