Job summary

Saint-Gobain North America’s CertainTeed division seeks a Manager of Project Design to lead a high-performance design team across Decoustics and Strongsville Wood divisions. You will drive shop drawings, CAD procedures, and design excellence while mentoring 8–9 direct reports.

You will coordinate project scheduling, resource allocation, and client inquiries, with travel across North America and a hybrid work environment that supports collaboration and innovation.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years’ industry experience in commercial construction or equivalent.
  • 15+ years’ leadership experience managing cross-functional design teams.
  • Advanced AutoCAD skills; knowledge of SolidWorks; ERP systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a multidisciplinary design team (8–9 direct reports).
  • Assign and schedule projects, manage workload, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Oversee creation and validation of detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with clients to address design and technical inquiries.
  • Develop and implement CAD procedures and SOPs.
  • Support cross-training and process improvements to maximize team flexibility.
  • Manage external freelancers and oversee invoicing and billing.
  • Provide regular project status reviews to Project Managers and Senior Management.
  • Travel quarterly to Strongsville and other North American locations (>5–10%).

What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in architectural design/engineering (required).
  • 15+ years’ industry experience in commercial construction or equivalent.
  • 15+ years’ leadership experience managing cross-functional design teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD knowledge of SolidWorks; ERP systems knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of custom ceiling design (fiberglass, metal, wood) is a strong asset
  • Proven ability to lead meetings, resolve conflicts, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and mentoring skills.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.
