Purpose of the Position

As the Production Manager, you will lead a team of locomotive maintenance professionals, overseeing planning, scheduling, and work assignments in a locomotive maintenance environment. You will ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulations.

Position Accountabilities
  • Support Mechanical supervisors in planning and executing locomotive maintenance and repairs, and hold them accountable for daily production targets.
  • Ensure continuity of production across shifts.
  • Communicate and deliver key performance indicators, analyze root causes of issues, and ensure team understanding of business objectives and individual roles.
  • Validate safety meetings, job briefings, and activities to ensure adherence to safety rules and policies.
  • Verify stock/material levels and hold the store department accountable for protecting production plans for the next 72 hours.
  • Audit maintenance activities and processes.
  • Maintain positive relationships with union officials and ensure collective agreements are understood and managed.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or mechanical/electrical trade certification, or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of railroad experience.
  • 3-5 years of frontline operations leadership experience.
  • Experience with GE and EMD locomotive types.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of collective agreements and non-union policies.
  • Ability to work with diverse employees and adapt accordingly.
  • Strong coaching skills.
