Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for leading our Production team to produce and package quality dairy products and by-products in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner. The Production Manager is responsible for promoting positive employee relationships and fostering an environment where we can all make contributions that matter.

Schedule: Monday - Friday Day Shift. Available to support after hours as needed
Salary: $101,720 - $133,510
NOTE: Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree preferably in Engineering, Food Sciences, Dairy Technology, Operations or Management related field is a requirement.
  2. Minimum five (5) years management experience in food manufacturing industry is preferred.
  3. Superior leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Strong analytical and organizational skills, excellent at planning and analyzing data in spreadsheets, charts.
  5. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office), including advanced programming in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP.
  6. Knowledge of LEAN tools and methodologies an asset.
  7. Very strong H&S and quality culture with focus on continuous improvement.
How you will make contributions that matter:
  1. Provides leadership, direction, guidance and support to Production supervisors and personnel. Develops positive, motivating and efficient communication with all employees.
  2. Maximizes the profitability of the department with efficient use of raw materials, productive use of available labour and control of overhead costs.
  3. Translates production requirements into daily work schedule and directs staff in various departments in the execution of the work in accordance with GMP and SOP requirements.
  4. Ensures the manufacturing and packaging of quality product while maintaining a safe and motivated workforce.
  5. Manages line efficiencies, key performance indicators and production downtime.
  6. Liaises with internal and external departments such as Maintenance, Quality, Finance, Engineering, etc., on various production related initiatives.
  7. Effectively uses daily production information to track costs, measure trends, and communicate results, positively reinforce success, and initiate corrective action when appropriate.
  8. Ensures the Company’s quality and sanitation standards are met through close liaison with Quality, full participation in the HACCP and BRC programs, as well as frequent review and implementation of Company and Government Policies.
  9. Troubleshoots and leads problem-solving efforts through the facilitation of effective functional and cross-functional teams and on-the-floor leadership to effectively change systems and procedures through the process of continuous improvement.
  10. Ensures that safe conditions always exist within the work environment and takes appropriate actions to protect the health and safety of the employees.
  11. Supports and maintains Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P.’s quality standards.
  12. Responsible for promoting positive employee relations including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, investigations and other employee relations.
  13. Other duties as required.
