TVO is hiring a Manager of Product Experience to lead our existing team of UX and UI designers in building TVO’s digital experiences big and small as well as creating and designing new ones. Reporting to the Director of Product Innovation, this position will be responsible for coaching and developing the team, and continually enhancing the UX and Digital Design practices at TVO. Promoting a culture of shared knowledge and best practices will be essential to succeed. This role will be involved in planning as well as day-to-day technical and executional activities.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Lead and coach a team of 8 UX and UI Designers in enhancing the UX / UI design practice at TVO.
  • Identify, and collaboratively prioritize and map important product experience opportunities.
  • Guide the product experience team, collaborating with product, development and QA managers in delivering best-practice, user-centred UX / UI design solutions for web and mobile apps.
  • Elevate the development of foundational UX / UI practices and approaches across TVO, including the development and regular usage of personas and customer journey maps, and ongoing user testing.
  • Support the implementation of agile work methodologies, contributing and supporting ideas to ensure increasing team efficiency and effectiveness. You will play a pivotal role in addressing challenges; and enabling clarity, simplicity and collaboration in workflow.
  • Continually coach and establish new standards for users testing and research to drive TVO’s user-centered product development practices.
  • Work closely with our Data Strategy, Audience Development and Philanthropy teams in developing product strategies that are driven by data to optimize UX / UI design decisions

What You Will Bring To TVO

  • 8+ years of experience in working with product design; moving products / offerings from requirements to UX design to UI design to launch and post-launch enhancements, rooted in formal and applied UX / UI training and practice.
  • 5 years of management experience in coaching and mentoring a team of UI and UX designers
  • University or college degree with preferred specialization in UX or digital design.
  • Experience in a matrixed, product-based organization is preferred.
  • An established record of building and managing high performing teams to achieve best-in-class, user-centered digital designs and experiences.
  • Proven experience and success in setting up, creating and evolving A / B test plans, user test panels, and other usability tests.
  • A known collaborator who builds bridges, strengthens relationships, and works across cross-functional teams, to design and manage projects to completion.
  • Strong working experience of a range of UX, UI, and design optimization tools, including Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD and other collaboration tools.
  • Experience working with data and cross-functional teams to develop and apply user personas and user journeys into the product development process.
  • Experience in clarifying and gathering requirements for delivery to development in the form of user designs / mock-ups, style guides, wireframes and user stories.
  • Strong ability to simplify the complex to solve problems, and to drive / support team and organizational progress and transformation.
  • Proven ability to inspire and create a user-focused culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive for clarity, focus and alignment.
  • Ability to prioritize based on business value and available resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and establish new processes and procedures that lead to greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Aptitude for experimentation and adapting to fast-paced digital environments.
  • Agile mentality, with an ability to deliver results and to push innovative thinking / think outside of the box when required.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills to work cross-functionally and with leadership.
