Cloudera seeks a Manager of Product Design to architect the user experience for the Data Platform and lead an international team in delivering an edge-to-AI ecosystem that sets the standard for usability in complex data environments.

You will partner with Product and Engineering to turn platform strategy into a compelling vision, operationalize AI-assisted design workflows, and drive systemic innovation across the product. This role emphasizes human-centered design at scale.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of design leadership experience.
• 5+ years in product design for enterprise software.
• Strategic thinking with business impact and human needs.
• Portfolio or case studies showing leadership and impact.
• Ability to lead in a remote, distributed environment.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Deep understanding of AI-augmented design tooling and modular design.
• Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, or related field.

As a Manager of Product Design at Cloudera, you will serve as a strategic architect of the user experience. You don’t just solve problems; you anticipate them, building the platform capabilities that cement Cloudera’s position at the forefront of the data industry.

You will lead a high-performing, international team of designers to transform the Cloudera Data Platform into a seamless "edge-to-AI" ecosystem that sets the industry standard for usability in complex data environments. We are seeking a force multiplier; a leader who understands that in a world of complex, commoditized data, superior design is the ultimate differentiator.

You will move beyond traditional management to drive a culture of systemic innovation, ensuring our platform is highly functional and intuitive at scale. By operationalizing AI-driven tools within our design workflows and product strategy, you will enable our customers to master the entire data lifecycle with clarity and ease. This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

As a Manager of Product Design you will:

• Hire, Manage, and Coach: Build a talented, diverse, inclusive team that consistently delivers on projects and is well-balanced across a range of product design skill sets.
• AI Leadership & Workflows: Further refine and operationalize AI-assisted design processes and workflows within your team. Staying relevant with trends while ensuring the use of modern tools to increase speed and quality.
• Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to turn platform strategy into a compelling vision that addresses the full "edge to AI" lifecycle.
• Operational Excellence: Guide overall team performance, resource allocation, and project prioritization while maintaining a culture of design excellence and a healthy design process across the platform.
• Systemic Problem Solving: Apply advanced design principles to resolve unusually complex architectural problems, providing solutions that are innovative and impactful for the broader ecosystem.
• Organizational Influence: Act as a primary advocate for design, serving as a spokesperson at the organization level to ensure human-centered design is a core part of major platform initiatives.
• Design Mentorship: Set the bar for quality and craft, acting as a role model for Cloudera’s values and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

We are excited if you have (Required Experience):

• Leadership Experience: 2+ years of design leadership experience with a proven track record of nurturing top design talent and scaling team impact.
• Product Design Expertise: 5+ years of experience in Product Design working collaboratively with PM and Engineering in enterprise software, PaaS, or SaaS environments.
• Strategic Maturity: Experience leading product direction and strategic thinking, making decisions based on business impact and human needs.
• Leadership Portfolio: A proven track record of impact, demonstrated through a portfolio or case studies that showcase your ability to lead teams through complex platform challenges, drive design strategy, and operationalize innovative workflows.
• Global Collaboration: Ability to lead effectively in a remote, globally distributed, and multicultural working environment.
• Communication Mastery: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to represent work to a broad team of stakeholders clearly and succinctly.
• Technical Foundation: Deep understanding of operationalizing AI augmented design tooling, user-centered design processes, grid systems, typography, color, and modular system design within a platform-scale environment.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

You might also have:

• AI & Design Curiosity: Strong opinions on the intersection of AI and Design, with your own experiments and workflows for AI-driven design processes.
• Complex Domain Experience: Experience designing for large-scale platforms involving data streaming, data warehousing, machine learning, and AI applications.
• Change Management: A proven ability to positively affect change and drive innovation in the face of ambiguity and fuzzy definitions.
