Job Description

Zonda is seeking a full-time Manager, Product Design to lead and nurture a talented team of product designers. This leadership role will shape the future of our applications & platforms, including consumer-facing digital products and enterprise-grade data analytics and mapping software. Our product design practice sits within a centralized Design organization, working closely with cross-functional partners in Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing. You’ll bring hands-on concepting expertise and business insights to the Discovery process and provide coaching and oversight to the team of designers as they run through Delivery.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to provide strategic design leadership across our Product teams and cultivate a culture of excellence within our design operations.

You will be instrumental in shaping the organization’s design strategy and design systems, and will lead initiatives on the product roadmap from their initial stages to completion. The work spans both B2B enterprise software, with a focus on cutting-edge dashboards and data visualization, and consumer-facing, home-listings web platforms that incorporate immersive 3D experiences. You will manage a team of highly regarded product designers who have a proven track record of delivering innovative work and building thriving partnerships with product managers.

What You’ll Do

• Design Strategy : Form partnerships with product managers, engineers, and key business stakeholders to shape requirements, objectives, and roadmaps. Embody the design thinking framework and be an active contributor to upstream business strategy to shape design work before it arrives into the discovery or delivery phase.
• Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative design environment. Oversee the end-to-end product design process, ensuring high-quality design deliverables from discovery to delivery.
• Program Management : Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure timely and high-quality output.
• Discovery : Lead the early concepting and shaping processes by facilitating workshops, generating product vision sketches, and leveraging AI tools for rapid ideation.
• Design Operations : Leverage JIRA and Confluence alongside the broader Design organization to schedule tasks and communicate commitments
• Design Systems & Standards : Establish, evolve, and scale design systems, standards, best practices, and guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency across all products.
• Feedback & Research : Present and articulate your design choices to a diverse set of audiences, both internally to business leadership and externally to customers and users.
• Continuous Improvement : Seek areas for iteration that uplift the usability, accessibility, and visual consistency of existing experiences
• Advocacy & Culture : Champion Product Design across the organization, advocating for design-led thinking and ensuring its seamless integration into the product development lifecycle. Contribute to building a fulfilling design culture and creative practices within the team.

Who You Are

A B.A., BSc, BDes, or equivalent in HCI, Design, Psychology, Engineering, Business, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications or equivalent practical experience are welcome

7+ years of experience in product design, with at least 2+ years in a managerial or leadership role overseeing design teams. (e.g., 8+ years of design experience with 3+ years in management for a senior role).

Strong portfolio demonstrating design vision, business impact, and large programs of work that ideally leverage design systems

Proficiency in design and prototyping using Figma, including experience working with and contributing to design system components, auto-layout, and prototyping.

Deep understanding of UX / UI principles, information architecture, and interaction design.

Proven experience with user research methods (qualitative and quantitative) and usability testing.

Experience in establishing, scaling, and evolving design systems.

Strong understanding of agile methodologies and working within cross-functional product teams.

Clear and confident communicator, with excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and storytelling skills to effectively articulate design concepts and collaborate across diverse stakeholders.

Proven ability to inspire, coach, and develop designers, fostering professional growth and high performance.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to untangle complex problems and devise innovative solutions.
