Job summary

Capital One Canada is seeking a Manager, Privacy Compliance to lead privacy governance and advise business units on regulatory requirements. The role focuses on agile, fast-paced environments with a strong background in Canadian financial services regulations.

You will partner with Senior Manager and Chief Privacy Officer, drive privacy program operations, and support audits and training across the enterprise. Hybrid work with in-office days is offered.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in privacy, compliance, risk management, or a legal role within financial institutions, telecoms or insurance.
  • Experience with Canadian banking legislation and regulations for financial services.
  • Ability to influence and consult with senior business leaders and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As Manager, Privacy Compliance (Canada), you will bring together leadership, compliance expertise, and relationship management to help our technology-focused business be dynamic and well-controlled. You will be on a team that provides expert advice to the business on privacy issues and legal requirements. You thrive in an agile, fast-paced environment and have a strong background in financial industry regulations. You are a strong relationship builder, who has experience with influencing and consulting with a diverse group of business leaders and corporate stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities
  • Working with the Senior Manager, Privacy Compliance and the Chief Privacy Officer, the Manager, Privacy Compliance is responsible for supporting the daily operation and administration of the Privacy Program
  • Identifying emerging regulatory risks and communicating key regulatory developments and changes to all relevant stakeholders and assisting with the implementation of necessary changes so Capital One Canada remains compliant
  • Serving as a privacy subject matter expert, advises business unit stakeholders on the application of federal and provincial regulatory requirements for new products, business initiatives and processes, including privacy impact assessments
  • Providing effective review and challenge to processes and results
  • Driving customer-focused solutions
  • Supporting any regulatory examinations and/or internal audits of the privacy program impacting Capital One Canada
  • Investigating and responding to any privacy requests, complaints and inquiries in accordance with Capital One's policies, standards, procedures and processes
  • Supporting the developing and documentation of oversight of activities undertaken by the Enterprise Privacy team on behalf of Capital One Canada
  • Assisting the Sr. Manager Privacy and Chief Privacy Officer on matters related to the privacy framework and mandate
  • Assisting the Sr. Manager Privacy and Chief Privacy Officer in establishing written policies and procedures regarding privacy for Capital One Canada in compliance with Canadian regulations and Capital One Enterprise policies
  • Supporting the development and delivery of privacy training to business unit stakeholders
  • Understanding expectations from external entities, such as auditors and regulators, and partnering with first line leadership on ensuring compliance
  • Performing other related work, as assigned, by the Chief Compliance Officer or other Compliance leaders within Enterprise Compliance
Basic Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience working experience in privacy, compliance, risk management, or a legal role within a financial institution, tele-communications, or insurance
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the field of Privacy
  • At least 5 years of experience working with Canadian banking legislation, laws, industry standards, and regulations as they apply to the financial services sector
  • Proven record of innovation and process improvements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors' Degree CIPP(C) / CIPM designation or equivalent or willingness to complete within six months
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, work environment with an ability to influence others

The expected annual salary range for this position is $130,000 to $148,400.

This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es).
