Job summary

Farm Boy Inc. is seeking a Print Shop Operations Lead to oversee daily print shop activities, ensuring efficient production, finishing, and distribution of high-quality materials that support store operations and internal partners.

You will manage production workflows, schedules, and inventory while upholding brand standards, safety, and cost control in a fast-paced warehouse setting.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Graphic Communications, Printing Technology, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing or coordinating print production operations in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of digital press equipment, wide-format printers, and print finishing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee print shop operations including digital press production, wide-format printing, finishing, packaging and distribution.
  • Coordinate and prioritize print requests, production schedules and workflow to meet business requirements.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot digital press and finishing equipment while ensuring brand standards.
  • Review and prepare production files, layouts and specifications for print readiness.
  • Manage print shop inventory and budgeting; forecast supply needs and monitor stock levels.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors for high-quality print solutions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and comply with health and safety standards.

Job Description

You’ll be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the in-house print shop, ensuring the efficient production, finishing, and distribution of high-quality printed materials that support store operations and internal business partners. This role manages production workflows, prioritizes print requests, oversees budgeting and inventory, and ensures operational excellence through effective planning, quality control, and service delivery.

  • Oversee all aspects of print shop operations, including digital press production, wide‑format printing, finishing, packaging, and distribution to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate and prioritize print requests, production schedules, and workflow to meet business requirements and service level expectations.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot digital press and finishing equipment while monitoring production quality and ensuring adherence to brand standards.
  • Review and prepare production files, layouts, and specifications to ensure print readiness and accurate execution.
  • Manage print shop inventory, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and supporting uninterrupted operations.
  • Support departmental budgeting by monitoring expenses, processing invoices, forecasting supply requirements, and identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver high‑quality print solutions and exceptional service.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
  • Contribute to overall team success by taking on additional related responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications

  • A genuine passion for delivering engaging and exceptional customer service.
  • Typically requires post‑secondary education in Graphic Communications, Printing Technology, Business, or a related field, plus a minimum of 5 years experience in Marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing or coordinating print production operations in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of digital press equipment, wide‑format printers, and print finishing equipment, including laminators and guillotines.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Strong working knowledge of both PC and Mac operating environments.
  • Experience with Fiery print management software and other RIP engines.
  • Knowledge of colour management processes, including ICC profiles and colour‑matching software, is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across teams and with external vendors.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse/production environment that involves extended periods of standing, repetitive movement or tasks, lifting up to 40 lbs, and working amid warehouse noise and interruptions.
  • Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
