Job Title: Manager, People Partners
The Manager, People Partners leads a team within the Division of Equity, People and Culture, providing strategic HR advice and support to York community members through the lenses of equity, diversity, and inclusion, service excellence, and continuous improvement. The Manager champions programs that enhance the employee experience, learning and development, and workforce management strategies to achieve University Academic Priorities. Additionally, the Manager supports the implementation of strategic HR initiatives that enable transformation, culture change efforts, workforce capacity building, talent management, and people-focused solutions within and across Departments, Faculties, and Divisions.
Education:
- University undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- Human Resources Professional Certification.
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience working in organizations with unionized and non-unionized staff.
- Experience in strategic HR areas such as HR planning, change management, job design, compensation, talent and performance management, gap analysis, workforce analytics, labour relations, and equity, diversity, and inclusion practices.
Skills:
- Detailed knowledge of human resources management and organizational development principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of York HR policies, application governing legislation, collective agreements, employment law, statutes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Transformative, service-minded leadership that fosters innovative and engaged thinking.
- Ability to champion equity, diversity, and inclusion principles, establishing credibility and confidence with stakeholders and implementing local action plans aligned with York's EDI Strategy.
- Strong problem-solving skills supporting resolution of complex challenges.
- Relationship management, interpersonal, and political acuity skills, with the ability to collaborate with senior management and clients.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to diverse audiences.
- Proven project management skills in delivering large-scale HR programs.
- Well-developed analytical skills with experience using HR data to support strategic analysis, decision-making, and program delivery.
- Highly developed labour relations skills gained through experience in unionized environments.
