Sr. Director, People & Operations at FamilySmart

Manager, Peer Support Program, Integrated Child & Youth Teams (Phase 3)

For more than 20 years, FamilySmart has been working in B.C. to help children and young people by supporting their families and other caring adults. We know children and young people do better when the adults who care about them are supported.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Manager to join our Programs team to co-lead our Peer Support staff team and program. This management position focuses on leading and supporting FamilySmart Family Peer Support Workers working on BC's Integrated Child & Youth Teams (Phase 3). The ICY teams are part of A Pathway to Hope – the provincial strategy for improved mental health and substance use care in B.C. The teams bring services together in a multidisciplinary setting, making it easier for children, youth, and their families to access care where and when they need it—at school and in the community.

Our Peer Support Program employs parents and young people with lived experience across B.C. and Alberta. The Manager of this program is responsible for leading and supporting the team, ensuring staff are trained and supported to work effectively with families and other ICY team members. The role emphasizes our Together-Centred approach, fostering collaboration with partners to ensure young people and families receive comprehensive support.

What You'll Do at Our Organization

  1. Report to the Senior Director, FamilySmart Programs and Services, co-manage the Peer Support Program, and lead our team of Family Peer Support Workers on BC’s ICY teams (Phase 3).
  2. Enhance the practice and capacity of Family Peer Support Workers to provide quality services and promote the Working Well Together Practice.
  3. Collaborate with ICY Program Leads to oversee, coordinate, and manage the integration of peer support staff within the teams.
  4. Supervise and manage Family Peer Support Workers, including performance management and reviews.
  5. Identify learning and development needs of the team and support relevant training initiatives.
  6. Work with the Senior Director, People & Operations, to recruit, orient, and train new Peer Support Workers.
  7. Lead weekly and monthly team meetings.
  8. Complete required reporting.
  9. Recognize boundaries of responsibilities and escalate issues appropriately.
