We are looking for an experienced Manager, Payroll and HR Operations to lead the delivery of accurate, efficient payroll services and HR operational support across multiple business units and 2,500+ employees in Canada the U.S. and Mexico.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS MANAGER, PAYROLL & HR OPERATIONS :

  • Provide strategic leadership to a large decentralized, yet connected team, including supervisory staff within a shared services and center of expertise model.
  • Participate as a key member of the Human Resources leadership team, collaborating with Directors and specialists on broader Payroll and Human Resources strategy.
  • Support the development of team members by fostering engagement, continuous learning, and identifying high-potential talent for future growth.
  • Drive the alignment of payroll operations across business units and geographies, ensuring consistency across business units and jurisdictions.
  • Lead the execution of payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business and client expectations.
  • Analyze current-state payroll and timekeeping processes to identify and address gaps and opportunities.
  • Lead the enhancement and deployment of scalable, accurate payroll and benefits solutions in collaboration with a 3rd-party IT solutions provider.
  • Implement standardized processes and best practices across the organization.
  • Guide optimization and maintenance of the HCM to efficiently facilitate HR processes and provide meaningful management information to leaders
  • Lead organizational change initiatives related to payroll transformation and process redesign and implementation.
  • Provide process assurance and ensure effective oversight across all payroll activities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A MANAGER, PAYROLL & HR OPERATIONS :

  • Proven track record in navigating and succeeding within large, dynamic, and multifaceted organizations.
  • Brings hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and aligning payroll processes across multi-site, multi-country operations (Canada and the U.S.).
  • Skilled in aligning systems, processes, and teams to achieve operational consistency and efficiency at scale (2,500+ employees).
  • Background in manufacturing and unionized settings is strongly preferred.
  • Understands the nuances of complex payroll within collective bargaining environments is strongly preferred.
  • Leads transformation initiatives, influence change, and bring people along with a clear and strong communication strategy.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, prioritizes well, and executes tasks with precision — helping elevate the overall HR brand.
  • Constantly looking for better ways of doing things; fosters a team culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Works autonomously, confidently challenges the status quo, and takes initiative to drive outcomes.
  • Ready to step up; brings energy, curiosity, and a hunger to lead and grow.
  • Experience with People Leadership Programs (PLP) is an asset.
