Job Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Global Logistics, the Outbound Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing all outbound traffic for our stores and E-commerce as well as controlling the cost mechanisms associated with those services. You will have direct supervision over and be accountable for a team of 2 people. This role is highly cross-functional and requires offering support to various departments, such as the Distribution Centre, E-Comm, Stores, Customer Service, and Customs Compliance. The success of this position will be evaluated based on the delivery of clear goals, growing of key competencies, and execution of the roadmap defined by the Sr. Director. You will focus on and actively contribute to delivering a best-in-class customer experience while being mindful of costs to continue supporting the company’s growth and global expansion. This position is a hybrid work model.
Main Responsibilities:
- Grow your talents, keeping your team in mind and involved in multiple projects and processes;
- Provide leadership to facilitate business needs in the transportation of goods to our North American brick & mortar locations and E-comm channels;
- Monitor the behaviour of the shipping aggregator tool;
- Participate in the selection of LTL, FTL, Parcel, or a final mile carrier and the clear understanding of their performance;
- Ensure that the department provides excellent customer service by quickly resolving all transportation-related issues;
- Reconcile budgeted spending with actual expenditure weekly;
- Manage and review the performance of transportation service providers by holding regular meetings and mandatory, well-structured QBRs;
- Assist the Sr. Director and the Procurement team with contract negotiations and RFPs;
- Assist the FP&A Department and the Sr. Director in the budgeting and forecasting process;
- Lead projects with members from the Logistics, Marketing, Operations, IT, Customer Service, and Distribution Centre Departments;
- Find and review new carriers and technologies;
- Ensure the proper coordination of our store openings, relocations, renovations, and closures in Canada and the USA, including cross-border customs clearance;
- Manage the invoice auditing process (in-house and/or third-party providers);
- Monitor the successful execution of the daily delivery schedule and create an accurate daily transport performance report;
- Be responsible for the reverse logistics process and performance;
- Resolve customers’ transport service provider complaints or requests that require escalation;
- Keep the business informed on the impactful movement of merchandise.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in a related discipline is required, with CITT and/or P.Log certifications considered an asset;
- 5+ years of experience in transportation operations, with a proficiency in utilizing a transportation management system and other transportation technologies;
- Leadership, teamwork, and proactive problem-solving skills to work closely with our internal partners and third-party carriers;
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to reach win-win solutions with internal and external partners;
- Demonstrated success in leading, motivating, and coaching both individuals and teams;
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated success in project management, problem-solving, and the continuous improvement and achievement of cost and service metrics while operating in a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent follow-up skills with a customer-centric approach;
- Experience in the international retail transportation industry is an asset;
- Completion of the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers certificate is an asset;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows;
- Knowledge of the Oracle Retail Management System and Manhattan SCALE is an asset;
- Bilingualism (French and English) is required for daily communication with employees, managers, and stakeholders both within and outside of Quebec;
- Ability to work under pressure.
