Manager, Original Programming

Who we're looking for:

Rogers Sports & Media has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Original Programming within our Television organization. Reporting to the Head Of Original Programming, the Manager, Original Programming will focus on the submission, development and production of original Canadian programming. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting with Drama, Comedy, Reality & Factual development for Rogers channels: City, Bravo, FX, FXX, and our upcoming suite of specialty channels.

What you'll do:

  • Execute on the original programming strategy across multiple platforms and brands
  • Accept and evaluate pitches and proposals for development and production, recommend select projects to the Head Of Original Programming
  • Review and analyze development and production budgets & schedules; identify and suggest cost and time saving opportunities
  • Collaborate and assist internal Sales, Marketing, Legal and Communications teams to maximize effectiveness of production integrations and cross platform content executions;
  • Clearly communicate Rogers programming needs to diverse production community at conferences and panels as required
  • Help shepherd productions through the development, production, post-production and broadcast release phases

What you bring:

  • A motivated, business-oriented and team-playing approach to production with exceptional creative instincts and a passion for television
  • Superb written, verbal, research and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong understanding and familiarity of Canadian regulatory system, provincial incentives, and CMF guidelines
  • Previous experience overseeing independent production budgets and analyzing cost reports is essential
  • Proficient understanding of independent production: including technical aspects (e.g. post production, camera); budgets, finance plans & production schedules - is essential
  • Experience in a wide variety of program genres (e.g. entertainment, documentary, reality, drama, etc.) is essential
