Job summary

RBC is seeking a Manager, Canadian Tax Operations to lead the annual tax reporting cycle and ongoing operational priorities. You will coordinate across tax operations, technology, vendors and project teams to deliver timely regulatory reporting and process improvements.

In this role, you will drive operational leadership, manage stakeholders, and guide a team through complex, regulated tax processes while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Operations, Banking, or Financial Services with accountability for complex, regulated processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax reporting requirements (T4 slips, T5/T3/T5013/T5008) and CRA guidelines.
  • Experience with RBC Wealth Management Canada systems (Broadridge/TFP, OnDemand, Client Source).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and business analysis skills with translating requirements into practical solutions.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and priorities with accountability.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience developing training, procedures and knowledge materials.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Forward-looking, continuous-improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead processes and provide operational leadership through the annual tax reporting cycle.
  • Coordinate tax-season priorities, deliverables, communications and escalations.
  • Lead tax initiatives from an operational perspective (impact assessments, planning, tracking).
  • Oversee communications initiatives, including client and field communications and regulatory communications.
  • Coordinate with Technology, Project teams, service providers and vendors on deliverables and issues.
  • Provide input into tax system changes (requirements, testing, implementation).
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve efficiency.
  • Analyze regulatory, business and system changes for impacts on processes and controls.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, training materials and knowledge resources.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and build team capability; support senior manager in leadership.
  • Build partnerships across Tax Operations for alignment and timely execution.

Job description

What is the opportunity?

As a Manager, Canadian Tax Operations, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of the annual Canadian tax reporting cycle and ongoing operational priorities. Working closely with the Senior Manager, you will provide process leadership, business analysis and coordination across tax operations, technology, vendors and project teams.

What will you do?
  • Lead assigned processes and provided operational leadership and support throughout the annual tax reporting cycle, including planning, readiness, execution and issue resolution.
  • Support the Senior Manager in coordinating tax-season priorities, deliverables, communications and escalations.
  • Lead tax initiatives and projects from an operational perspective, including impact assessments, requirements, analysis, planning, tracking and implementation.
  • Lead communications initiatives, including client and field communications, presentation planning and support, and regulatory communications.
  • Work closely with Technology, Project teams, Service Providers and vendors to coordinate deliverables, manage dependencies and address issues.
  • Provide operational input into Broadridge tax system changes, including requirements, analysis, testing and implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual activities and improve efficiency, and help implement practical solutions.
  • Analyze regulatory, business and system changes to determine impacts on processes, controls, data and operational delivery.
  • Support the development and maintenance of procedures, training materials, process documentation and knowledge resources.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and subject matter support to team members and contribute to building broader team capability.
  • Support the Senior Manager with people leadership and employee development activities, as required.
  • Build effective partnerships across Tax Operations and the broader organization to ensure clear communication, alignment and timely execution.
What do you need to succeed?
Must haves:
  • 5+ years of experience in Operations, Banking, or Financial Services, with demonstrated accountability for complex, regulated processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian tax reporting requirements, including registered (T4 slips) and non-registered tax slips(T5/T3/T5013/T5008) and CRA/RQ guidelines.
  • Knowledge of RBC Wealth Management Canada systems (Broadridge/TFP, OnDemand, Client Source).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and business analysis skills, with the ability to assess impacts and translate requirements into practical operational solutions.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, priorities and deliverables with strong follow-through and accountability
  • Advanced technical skills (Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and communication tools).
  • Experience developing training, procedures and knowledge materials
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver against critical regulatory deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, with a forward-looking and continuous-improvement mindset.
Nice-to-have:
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course (CSC).
  • Knowledge of FATCA, CRS, and QI/U.S. tax regimes.
  • Background in process improvement, automation or operational efficiency
  • Exposure to regulatory change and operational readiness.
  • People leadership, coaching or employee development capabilities.
