Job summary

Sofina Foods Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager to support the curing program's product development at the Humberline facility.

You will collaborate with Quality Assurance, Marketing, Sales, Product Management and Production Operations to meet production metrics such as yield, food safety and profitability. The role will report to the Senior Manager, Salumiere and is intended to develop into the subject-matter expert for curing product manufacturing and development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (chemical/mechanical), Operations Management or related field; specialization in Food Science is a strong asset.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in production, development, food processing in meat processing industry.
• In-depth knowledge of CFIA regulatory/environment requirements.
• Exposure to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems within a refrigeration environment.
• Strong communication and project-management skills; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Supports with the overall manufacturing and development of product specifications, SOPs and required quality processes to ensure safe products.
• Assists product design and launches, and positioning of approved products with customers and internal teams.
• Helps develop profit awareness of each product and monitors product mix against plan to meet targets.
• Evaluates new technologies and innovations for potential application to Sofina operations; focuses on safety and profitability.
• Collaborates with Maintenance and Technical Services to ensure equipment and rooms operate optimally and meet quality standards.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Salumiere the Operations Manager supports the overall product development of the curing program at the Humberline facility. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the research, development and launches of new and enhancement of existing products mix. The incumbent is expected to partner collaboratively with cross functional teams such as Quality Assurance, Marketing, Sales, Product Management and Production Operations helping to deliver on the set production metrics such as (but not limited to) yield management, food safety, product attainment, and contributes to a strong Sofina brand awareness. The Operations Manager is set to apprentice from the SeniorManager, Salumiere in an effort to become the subject matter expert and lead our curing product manufacturing and development.

Key Accountabilities:

• Supports with the overall manufacturing and development of product specifications, standard operating procedures and required quality processes to ensure safe products.
• Assists product design and launches, and positioning of approved products with customers and all involved internal parties (Quality Assurance, Production Operations, Product Management, Sales, Finance and Marketing)
• Under the guidance of theSeniorManager, Salumiere helps in the development of profit awareness of each product within the organization and monitors the product mix options. Records performance of products against plan and carry out changes to the plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved. Seek to improve profitability by being aware of costs but without detracting product quality
• Contributes to evaluating and the development of research proposals regarding emerging technologies and innovations and their potential application to Sofina existing operational equipment / processes with an emphasis on maximizing Food Safety and profitability (i.e. HPP technology; new water equipment, etc.)
• Collaborates with the Maintenance and Technical Services team to ensures that all processing rooms are maintained in optimal operating condition by proactively monitoring temperature control systems, coordinating preventive maintenance activities, and addressing any equipment or environmental issues that may impact product quality, food safety, or operational efficiency. Supports compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality requirements by ensuring refrigeration systems are functioning reliably and consistently across all production areas.
• Supports the SeniorManager, Salumiere, with the evaluation of technology suppliers and industry partners to understand emerging technologies, innovative solutions, and market trends, and assesses their applicability to Salumiere operations. Assist with the identification and implementation of new equipment, processes, and product capabilities that enhance efficiency, product quality and competitiveness, while aligning with organizational objectives for growth, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
• Under the guidance of theSeniorManager, Salumiere and in collaboration with Marketing and Sales, assist in identifying opportunities within the competitive marketplace and prepare short-term business plans to develop, test and launch products that meet Sofina market share, volume, profit and operational (including quality) objectives

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (chemical/mechanical), Operations Management or related field, a specialization in Food Science a strong asset
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in production, development, food processing in meat processing industry
• In-depth knowledge of Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulatory/environment requirements
• Exposure to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systemswithin a refrigeration environment
• Strong communication and project-management skills. Exercises independent judgement and manages multiple projects
• Proficiency with MS Office Applications
• Organizational and project management skills to manage projects from concept to market
• Have analytical ability; methodical thinker and problem solver; attention to detail

Hiring Range: CAD $86,172 - $120,220

Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus up to 10% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.

Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
