This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.

We are currently looking for a Manager of Facility Services to join our team of committed professionals. This full-time position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Chippewa location inNorth Bay.

Under the leadership and in collaboration with the Centre Manager of Health and Wellness, the Manager of Facility Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of facility management, including cleaning and general maintenance. This role also involves handling all maintenance and repairs in the YMCA health and wellness centers, and the coordination of contract services to ensure a safe, functional, clean, and comfortable environment that supports the delivery of YMCA and partner programming (if applicable).

START DATE: April 13, 2025

LOCATION: North Bay, ON

RATE OF PAY: $51,000 - $67,500 per year

Major Responsibilities

  • Report any safety hazards to the Centre Manager of Health, Fitness & Aquatics and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Comply with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) program, demonstrating a full understanding of its three interrelated components: training, labeling, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Practice universal precautions when cleaning up any body fluids or excrement to ensure health and safety standards are met.
  • Oversee Health and Safety committee operations, inspections and associated requirements (i.e fire drills, evacuation plans).
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and volunteers, scheduling training events to ensure compliance with mandatory certifications.
  • Ensure vendor contracts are updated regularly and that all required YMCA training remains current.
  • Assist in developing the department budget and work toward achieving budget targets.
  • Develop a comprehensive cleaning program that meets or exceeds The Y Way for Asset Management, including detailed cleaning procedures, cleanliness standards, monthly audits, and workplans.
  • Collaborate with the Centre Manager to ensure the YMCA facilities are maintained to the highest standards of excellence.

Qualifications

  • Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C.
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • Pool Operator Certification required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in commercial cleaning or similar environment in the hospitality, recreation, or health care industry.
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Solid knowledge of appropriate health and safety standards and code.
  • Knowledge and experience of stripping and waxing of commercial flooring.
  • Bilingualism in both official languages an asset.
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check.
