Founded through the compassion and vision of generous volunteers, Beth Donovan Hospice has been providing services to the community for over 30 years in the North Grenville - Merrickville area and more recently in the communities of South Ottawa.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Manager of Clinical Services to lead and support the clinical aspects of our Day Hospice and In-Home Visiting Programs. You will oversee clinical assessments, client and family system navigation, program delivery, and ensure high-quality palliative care aligned with best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake assessments and home visits to determine eligibility for hospice services
  • Liaise with Volunteer Coordinator for timely volunteer-client matches
  • Collaborate with clients and families to regularly assess their needs and to develop and document a care plan that is based on the client’s wishes, values, and beliefs
  • Engage clients and families in Advance Care Planning and Goals of Care discussions
  • Oversee weekly operations of the Day Hospice Program, ensuring smooth, compassionate service delivery including the scheduling and supervision of Day Hospice volunteers and drivers
  • Provide direct care and case management during Day Hospice program including the supervision of complementary therapies (music, art, massage, etc.) and maintain a safe, clean, and well-equipped environment
  • Support caregivers throughout the client’s illness trajectory, at end of life, and through bereavement
  • Assist with the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
  • Provide clinical backup support to the Home Support Program
  • Support volunteer recruitment, orientation, and ongoing training
  • Serve as a key liaison between Beth Donovan Hospice and healthcare/community partners. This includes attendance at weekly rounds at Kemptville District Hospital
  • Facilitate Health and Safety Committee

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with CNO and member of RNAO

Current CPR and First Aid Certification

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Palliative Care education (preferred)

Experience

Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or community health

Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to work with evidence-based practices related to a palliative approach to care, pain and symptom management and end of life care

Experience supervising clinical teams or volunteers in a healthcare or nonprofit setting

Knowledge of community resources, infection prevention and control, and trauma-informed care

Experience with electronic medical records and strong computer literacy

Additional Information

This position is 4 days per week (flexible days, may include evening and weekend for hospice events)

Must be willing to travel within the North Grenville and surrounding area region

Participation in fundraising events, special initiatives, and public awareness campaigns may be required
