Job description

TAAG is a multidisciplinary firm offering a wide range of services for small and medium-sized businesses, individuals, governmental and non-governmental organizations. TAAG’s service lines include accounting and bookkeeping, tax planning, multi-family office services including wealth management, business and corporate law, and marketing and design.

We are seeking a highly skilled Manager of Accounting and Tax to oversee our accounting operations and ensure compliance with tax regulations. The ideal candidate will lead the accounting team, manage tax planning and reporting processes, and drive efficiencies to support TAAG’s financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger.
2. Prepare accurate financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
3. Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
4. Responsible for monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
5. Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns.
6. Lead tax planning initiatives to minimize liabilities and identify opportunities.
7. Keep updated with changes in tax laws and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
8. Train, mentor, and supervise accounting staff.
9. Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and foster professional growth within the team.
10. Develop and implement tax strategies and planning solutions for clients, including creating formalized tax planning tools for retirement.
11. Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients.
12. Actively promote the firm’s services to support business development.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (CPA preferred).
2. 5+ years of progressive accounting and tax experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
3. Experience working with Small/Medium Businesses.
4. Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, Tax prep and CaseWare) and Microsoft Excel.
5. Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations.
6. Knowledge or exposure to ASPE/IFRS would be considered an asset.
7. Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
8. Exceptional problem-solving skills and sound decision-making abilities.
9. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to address client inquiries clearly and professionally.
10. Committed to delivering quality work while meeting tight deadlines.
11. Collaborative team leader with a strong emphasis on teamwork and partnership.
12. Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.
