About the role

NLHS - Labrador Grenfell Zone requires a dynamic Manager of Patient Services to provide creative leadership, support, and direction at the Labrador West Health Centre. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with excellent leadership, communication, planning, and organizational skills, a critical thinker with experience in quality improvement and risk management initiatives to promote optimal delivery of client care. The Manager of Patient Services is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and direction to the staff of Inpatients and Long-Term Care. The candidate must possess computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel databases and spreadsheets. Other duties include financial accountability, policy and standard development, and Human Resource management. This position reports to the Director of Acute Care and the Director of Long-Term Care and Personal Care Homes.

Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate prepared graduate of a health care related discipline
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a health care setting
  • Minimum of two (2) years management experience and one (1) year leadership experience within the last five (5) years
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in an Acute Care setting
  • Proven ability to supervise, support, and guide staff
  • Proven ability to work independently and exercise considerable judgment and initiative
  • Successful completion of management course or willingness to complete within timeframe designated by employer
  • Certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check ( satisfactory )
  • Equivalency: an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Duties
  • Plan, organize, manage, and evaluate clinical programs and services for Inpatients and Long-Term Care
  • Provide leadership and guidance to care team members
  • Implement and follow evidence-based practices to guide clinical care
  • Support development of policies and procedures
  • Assist in formulating the annual budget for the service area; control supplies and maintain budgets including overtime relief
  • Assist Directors with staffing needs, transfers, disciplinary actions, and promotions
  • Collaborate with Directors and staff to set goals and objectives for clinical units
  • Monitor staff needs, actively recruit and interview staff
  • Participate in zonal and provincial meetings/working groups as required
  • Complete, submit, and authorize payroll for designated units
  • Complete performance evaluations and attendance management; submit monthly reports and budget variances; ensure quality assurance activities
  • Complete audits to ensure sustainability of the LG Model of Nursing Clinical Practice
  • Manage CSRS, PIERS, OneRecall, and Nursing Workload tool
  • Other related duties as required
