The Manager, Network Circuit Management, is responsible for managing and optimizing the circuits that carry data within a network. This role involves tasks such as coordination and oversight of circuit management, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable and efficient network operation. This role is responsible for managing relationships with vendors that provide network circuits and services. It involves overseeing the entire vendor lifecycle, from sourcing and contracting to performance management and compliance.

The position will report directly to the Manager, Network Solutioning and Architecture. This is critical front-line operational role subject to regular business working conditions, may be assigned to customer sites and occasional travel is a requirement of the role. This role is also expected to evolve as ISM’s business evolves.

Note: the preferred work location for this position is Regina, SK; however, the work location will also be dependent on the location of the successful candidate. If applicable, please indicate your willingness to relocate to Regina, SK, at the top of your resume / cover letter.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate and plan the physical connections for network devices, ensuring adequate capacity and redundancy.
  • Identify and select suitable vendors based on factors such as reliability, cost, and technical capabilities.
  • Coordination and oversight of the installation and setup of new network circuits, including cabling, equipment, and software.
  • Monitor and maintain the health of network circuits, identifying and resolving issues that may arise.
  • Assess current and future network demands to ensure sufficient capacity for existing and new circuits.
  • Provide input into future strategies and directions in Network Services and ISM’s overarching business strategies.
  • Lead or assist with status reporting, requirements identification and gathering, report writing, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Maintain accurate records of network circuits, including their configuration, performance, and status.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with circuit providers, acting as the primary point of contact for all vendor-related matters.
  • Working with vendors to purchase, install, and troubleshoot network equipment and services.
  • Analyzing network performance and implementing strategies to improve speed, reliability, cost and efficiency.
  • Tracking vendor performance against agreed-upon service level agreements (SLAs) and other metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Communicating vendor-related information and updates to relevant internal stakeholders, such as delivery managers, finance and legal teams.
  • Monitor and analyze system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
  • Analyze technical and operational problems. Work with internal technical teams and/or vendor representatives to resolve problems.
  • Assist in capacity planning, networking devices procurement and support renewal.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience supporting and monitoring network systems.
  • Strong foundation of networking concepts, including routing / switching / security / SDWAN products and platforms.
  • Understanding of general IT concepts and technologies including cloud computing, virtualization, server platforms, and security.
  • Understanding of core networking protocols including TCP, UDP, DNS, TLS, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with circuit design, build, and configuration with internet service providers (ISP).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience developing business relationships as well as managing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Ability to work autonomously and multi-task in a fast-paced team environment under tight timelines.
  • Proactive and able to identify risks and address potential problems before they occur.
  • Good organizational and logical thinking skills.
  • Strong documentation skills with detail and accuracy.
  • Sound financial analysis background, including forecasting and budgeting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of a variety of monitoring and ticket management tools.
  • Experience with issue tracking and escalation, and sense of urgency.
  • Excellent time management and issue follow-up skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, and eagerness to learn.
  • Understanding of ITSM Framework is essential, preferably ITIL Methodology V3 and V4.
  • Understanding of Problem Solving and Decision-Making methodologies, preferably Kepner Tregoe.
  • Relevant industry certifications (CCNA, JNCIA, Network+) considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Linux and network automation scripting experience are an asset.
