Job description
Overview

The Laboratory Manager, in collaboration with the Director, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging, is responsible and accountable for the effective functioning of the Laboratory. He/she will provide a framework to support current evidence based practice and professional growth. The candidate demonstrates the ability to lead the team in implementing patient/client focused services and managing financial and human resources. He/she guides the operation of the laboratory ranging from the selection of staff, choice of methods, purchase of equipment, quality assurance, quality control, safety, hours of operation, scheduling of staff and utilization management. The candidate supports the team and Laboratory Quality Manager in implementing and maintaining the Laboratory Quality Management System.

This position will inspire trust, leadership and the building and sharing of clinical excellence every day. The candidate will be an experienced leader who has personal drive and a commitment to ensure excellent patient outcomes and satisfaction through their health care experience.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to safe, quality care by
  • Facilitates the planning implementation of Laboratory Services to accomplish annual goals and objectives consistent with the vision of Mackenzie Health
  • Oversees development of policies and procedures and ensures that the department functions in accordance with federal and provincial regulations and professional standards governing the operation of a hospital laboratory
  • Ensures the maintenance of records as required by law
  • Facilitates continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Supports regional programs
What must you have?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related subject or equivalent work experience
  • Regulated Health Professional in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario (CMLTO-MLT) Active License.
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant laboratory experience with a Minimum 5 years progressive experience in leadership roles
