Role Description
The Manager, Middle Office Compliance will be responsible for ongoing oversight and compliance monitoring of the company’s trading, treasury and customer activities.This role is responsible for ‘middle office’ operations and serves as the critical link between the trading department and accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate trade capture, position reconciliation, and risk monitoring for precious metals, fx and other transactions.This also includes assessing and reporting on new and existing counterparty and customer risk.Completing credit risk reporting, research and analysis on credit and counterparty risk issues and new financial programs or strategies that impact our business.Regular review and reporting on derivative positions and exposures.
Principle Accountabilities
·Daily validation and booking of precious metals and fx trades (spot, forwards, options, swaps) in trading systems.
·Ensure accurate trade capture and resolve discrepancies with front office and operations.
·Daily P&L reporting and analysis, including commentary on variances.
·Reconcile trader positions against risk systems and inventory management tools.
·Monitor limit breaches, exposures, and key risk metrics.
·Escalate and assist in resolving operational or valuation issues.
·Identify inefficiencies in trade flow and support implementation of process enhancements.
·Collaborate on system upgrades and automation initiatives.
·Assist in ensuring all trading activities are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
·Maintain and organize trade documentation for audit and regulatory reviewsMonitor and report on the organization’s performance against key risk metrics, policy limits and specific risk as they relate to internally set limits, credit and counterparty credit risk.
·Review of trading processes and transactions and related models.
·Accurately complete and submit credit and counterparty risk reports, as required.
·Assist with third party financial risk assessment, financial statement review and operational review (ie. Mine plan, production forecast, 43-101).
·Conduct credit risk stress testing and associated calculations.
·Independently assess and analyse data, create comprehensive reports and data communication tools to provide guidance in credit risk analytics.
Qualifications
·Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics or related discipline.
·Minimum 7 years’ experience in a role(s) related to credit, market and finance risk.
·Expert understanding of financial instruments related to precious metals.
·Proficiency in Bloomberg, MS Office, particularly Word and Excel and excellent financial modelling skills.
·Mining, precious metals, or related experience is an asset.
